HeatNBond Spring Fabric Coasters Instructions

Background for applique:

Stitch the spring fabric and light fabric rectangles together with a ¼” seam with right sides together to make the 5” x 5” background.

Follow the HeatNBond Fusible Fleece package instructions to fuse the 5” squares to the wrong side of the prepared background squares.

Pair each background with one spring fabric square and pin with the right sides together. Stitch around the 4 squares ¼” from the edges.  Leave a 3” opening on one side for turning right side out. Clip the corners and turn each coaster right side out and press.

Press the opening shut by turning the edges inside 1/4″ and edge stitch around the coaster.

HeatNBond Applique

If you are using HeatnBond EZ Print Lite sheets, print the applique pattern pieces (the last sheet of the pattern) with your inkjet printer.  Follow the package instructions for printing and bonding to the wrong side of the fabrics.  NO TRACING!  How awesome is that?

After the HeatNBond pieces are bonded to the fabrics, cut out all applique pieces on the solid black lines, peel off the backing paper, and place applique with the adhesive side down on the 5” x 5” prepared background piece of fabric on the top side of the coaster.  The layout key is included in this pattern.

Bond the Applique Pieces to the Background

Following the package instructions to press the entire applique to the background.

Stitch around appliques

Use a zigzag, blanket, or straight stitch with Aurifil thread to stitch around each applique piece.  This will also quilt the spring coasters.

Finish the coasters

Finally, stitch in the ditch where the spring fabric meets the light fabric to finish the quilted Spring Coasters.
