Hi there! This is Jacquelynne with a super quick, fun, and easy to project to make from your batting scraps. If you make quilt projects, you probably have scraps of batting laying around that you hate to throw away, but you’re not sure what to do with! The kids will also love decorating these little snowmen- break out all of your bits of ribbon, buttons, and beads and have fun!
Batting is “floppy,” so I used Heat n Bond® Extra Firm Fusible Interfacing to stiffen up the batting, and I used Fabric Fuse™ glue to attach all of my embellishments.
- Scraps of batting- any kind
- Heat n Bond Fusible Interfacing- Extra Firm
- Fabric scraps and assorted embellishments such as ribbon, buttons, etc.
- Twine or heavy thread to make the hanging loop
- Fabric Fuse glue
Here’s what you do:
Trace the snowman and hat patterns (click here for pattern PDF) onto the dull side of the fusible interfacing. Cut out the interfacing, leaving a little bit of a border around the pattern shape.
Place the interfacing with the snowman design shiny side down on a scrap of batting. Fuse in place according to the package instructions.
Place the interfacing with the hat design shiny side down on the WRONG side of a scrap of fabric. Fuse in place according to the package instructions.
Cut out the snowman and hat on the lines.
Repeat using a tiny scrap of orange fabric for the nose. Cut out a triangle shape for the nose.
Cut a piece of twine for the hanging loop, fold in half and glue to the back of the hat. Embellish hat with ribbon if desired.
Glue hat, nose, and embellishments onto the snowman; allow to dry thoroughly.
Ta-da! Wasn’t that easy?? If you have pieces of batting that you want to piece together into a larger piece for a quilting project, click here.
