Hello friends! It’s Julia from Bayhill Studio. I am a quilter, pattern designer, artist, and avid hiker and I’m thrilled to be sharing a fun and totally FABulous project with you today! Meet the Wonder Woman sweatshirt!
Wonder Woman Gold Foil Sweatshirt
This Wonder Woman sweatshirt is the perfect gift for every amazing woman in your life. And best of all, it’s easy to make!
The design itself is understated enough to look timeless, yet still bold with a pop of gold Deco Foil
LOVE this!
To make this project, you will need:
- Gold Deco Foil (or any color Deco Foil you want to use)
- Deco Foil Hot Melt Adhesive
- Printable Wonder Woman Design (Click HERE)
- A sweatshirt or t-shirt of choice
- Iron, paper scissors, tape
To begin, tape the printout to the dull side of the Deco Foil Hot Melt Adhesive. There is a rough (glue) side and a dull side. The rough side will face the fabric, and the dull side will face up.
Carefully cut out the design.
HINT: I cut the inside of the design first so the taped sides would stay in place. Then I slowly worked my way around the outside, leaving the parts near the tape for last. Also, I have large scissors pictured here, but I ended up switching to smaller pointy scissors which enabled me to cut into the tiny curves and corners more accurately.TooltipTextAfter your design is cut out, discard the printout and place the Deco Foil Hot Melt Adhesive rough side facing the fabric, center on the fabric, and pin in place. Place the parchment pressing sheet that came with the Hot Melt Adhesive over the cut out design and press each part of the design for 30 seconds using medium heat until the entire surface is bonded.
Remove the parchment paper, allow the design to cool, then carefully peel off the upper paper layer, leaving behind the glue design on the fabric.
Next, layer a sheet of the Gold Deco Foil over the glue design, and top that with parchment paper. Notice the gold foil is facing up.
Press each area with firm pressure for 30-40 seconds. I wanted a bit of a distressed look, so I pressed each area for a little less time than recommended — more like 25 seconds.
Leave the gold foil in place and let the design cool completely. Now it’s time to slowly peel away the gold foil to reveal the design. Gorgeous!
This is such a fun and easy project with a big one-of-a-kind wow factor!
