I hope everyone’s holiday decorating has been a lot of fun! This week, I appliqued some lovely layered hearts to a simple felt Christmas tree skirt.
One of my favorite tools for applique is Therm O Web’s Super Stik Permanent Glue Stick. Using it allows me to glue the hearts in place so they are secure as I add decorative stitching!
Just use this glue stick to glue and layer the heart shapes together and then to glue it onto the tree skirt.
The next step is to stitch all the layers in place permanently either by hand or by machine. I opted to add some simple embroidery by hand!
And the best part is that this glue is really only “permanent” when it comes to paper-based projects! It washes out–making it the perfect way to make appliqued shapes without adding any extra weight! For the full tutorial of this tree skirt, just visit it here at Lella Boutique.
