Love Letters Mixed Media Cube Instructions

Die-cut the 3D cube from pink patterned scrapbook paper and assemble as directed.  If you don’t have a cube die, you can use a premade gift box and cover it with scrapbook paper.  Cover the edges of the cube with script patterned washi tape.

Preheat your foil laminator and foil two pieces of Deco Foil PeelnStick Toner Sheet, one with Pink Quartz Foil Transfer Sheet and one with Pink Melon Foil Transfer Sheet.  Die-cut the letters to spell LOVE, one from each color of foiled PeelnStick, and layer the darker Pink Melon die cut behind the Pink Quartz die-cut, offsetting them slightly for a shadow line.

Cover two pieces of the pink scrapbook paper with iCraft Easy-Cut Adhesive sheet, remove the backing paper from the Easy-Cut and adhere Pink Carnation Flock Transfer Sheet to one piece and Ruby Red Flock Transfer Sheet to the other (remember, fuzzy side down!).  Run the cardstock pieces through your die cutting machine or foil laminator on the cold setting to ensure good adhesion of the Deco Foil Flock and then remove the flock backing paper.  Hand cut or die-cut 4 heart shapes from the flocked cardstock, two from Pink Carnation and two from Ruby Red.

Adhere the layered foiled LOVE letters on top of the flocked hearts, alternating the pink and red hearts.

Apply Deco Foil Transfer Gel Blanco

Apply the NEW Deco Foil Blanco Transfer Gel (coming soon!) to a piece of cardstock with your Deco Foil Stencil Pal.  The Blanco Transfer Gel remains white when dry so that your light colors of Deco Foil Transfer Foils will be bright and beautiful when transferred to your substrate!  Once the Blanco has dried (about an hour or so), apply Opal Deco Foil Transfer Foil and run it through your preheated foil laminator.

Die-cut several floral dies from the Opal foiled cardstock.

Gather a variety of vintage ephemera pieces to embellish each side of your cube.  Layer an Opal foiled floral die-cut, some of the ephemera and the L flocked heart onto the first side, adhering everything into place with iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive.  Ink the edges of the ephemera with a bit of brown ink before adhering them in place if desired.

Repeat on the next side with O flocked heart …

And then with the V flocked heart onto the third side of the cube …

And finally with the E flocked heart of the fourth side.

For a finishing touch, outline each of the flocked hearts with clear iridescent glitter glue.

Let’s Add Some Deco Foil Flock

While the glitter glue is drying, cover a piece of kraft cardstock with iCraft Easy-Cut adhesive and adhere Green Envy Flock Transfer Sheet to it.  Die-cut some greenery from the Green Envy flocked cardstock for the top of the cube.

Fill a Decorative Dome with dried moss, pink-tinged faux flowers (Bouquet Findings flowers colored with Red Pepper and Snow Cap Mixative alcohol inks), a few of the Green Envy flocked leaves and tiny hearts die cut from red cardstock.  Cut a tiny tag from the pink patterned scrapbook paper, write the word LOVE and tie it onto the Decorative Dome with a piece of button thread.

Adhere the flocked greenery on top of the cube with iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive.  When you are happy with the coverage, adhere to the embellished Decorative Dome onto the middle of the flocked greenery.

Scatter a few small hearts die cut from pink patterned or inked paper onto the top of your cube and you are done.

Here are a few closeups of the finished Love Letters mixed media cube.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing how my Love Letters mixed media cube came together and that you’ve been inspired to create your own love letter Valentine project with Therm O Web’s Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets and Foil Transfer Sheets.  Thanks as always for stopping by and Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Happy creating, Deb xo

Oh, that’s delightful, Deb! I love the floral die-cuts on each panel, and that jar of tiny flowers on top is adorable. The design tape makes for the perfect edging and the greenery is full of that springtime freshness. A terrific and detailed tutorial as always too, thank you.
