Let’s Rock Scrapbook Layout

by Jessica Michaels

Hello and Happy Holidays! Jessica here bringing you a fun wintry layout using deco foil flock for our winter animals week! I had a lot of fun creating this one to document some hiking photos of myself and my boys last year on Christmas Eve. Most of the time it’s freezing or we have lots of snow at Christmas time here in Pennsylvania so it is not a normal thing for us to be able to hike with the kids at this time. This year, it was a balmy 9 degrees Fahrenheit on Christmas Eve with the ground covered in snow!

Let’s Rock Scrapbook Layout

I started this layout by pulling out a sheet of Vicki Boutin Foundations paper as it is a thicker white cardstock to hold mixed media without warping too bad. I grabbed a stamp from my stash by Stampin’ Up and stamped some woodgrain on my background, although, you can’t see much of it after I add everything back on. I also added some wet mixed media with distress oxide Tattered Rose using a grungy stamp and watering it down by spritzing with my water bottle before stamping about my page. I then added some splatters using some sprays from my stash.

Next, I cut some scrap pieces of patterned paper into strips and layered them on my layout over the mixed media with my Memory XL Tape Runner. I then backed my photos with smooth white card stock and patterned paper using easy tear tape. I also added fun photo corners by Thermoweb to my photos.

I then began working on my title. I pulled out some flock in black and my Elle’s Studio alpha dies and cut letters out of one of my patterned paper scraps that were still lying on my desk from the strips to create a shadow effect on my letters. I then cut a strip of the black flock and 3D Foam Adhesive sheets and adhered the foam adhesive to the flock by peeling off one backing sheet and sticking it to the flock(fuzzy side attached to the adhesive).

Then I laid my letters on top of the 3D Foam side and ran it through my manual die-cutting machine to add pressure to transfer the flock and at the same time cutting the letters out. Then I just peeled the letters from the flock backing and peeled the other backing off the adhesive sheet to reveal the sticky side to adhere to my other letters. I then attached the layered letters to my page using UltraBond Liquid Adhesive glue. I also added some fun bakers twine across my page to draw the focus to my title.

This layout wouldn’t be complete without my winter animals to pull in this week’s theme! I found a super cute clipart/cutfile on Etsy(linked above) and printed and cut it on my cutting machine. I absolutely love this adorable little critters and how they pulled in the hiking and holiday season to my page, as this was indeed, a hike on Christmas Eve. I attached these little critters all around my page using 3D Foam Squares that come in the box and then I added some black thread behind it for some added texture. I finished embellishing with random bits from my stash(mostly Vicki Boutin) and that’s going to finish this one up!
