HI!!!  It’s a good thing I like to take pictures because it gives me things to scrapbook!  Also, you never know when you are going to need a picture for a layout idea!  Inspiration comes from everywhere and this project is no exception!

I had ordered a margarita on St. Patrick’s Day a couple of years ago.  Then I found a unicorn cut file with a St. Patrick’s Day theme and the layout was born!!!

Let’s Get Started on the St. Pat’s Unicorn Layout

So, the layout idea came while I was searching for shamrock cut files.  That unicorn was TOO CUTE to pass up.  AND it was perfect to flock, so this is how this all started!!  I started by downloading the file from the Silhouette store and separating the pieces out, figuring out how many different colors of the flock I would need.  It ended up being 7!  With the White Latte flock doing double duty for two more different colors of green!  I opted to replace the stars in the picture with the hearts, easier and I liked the pink!

I cut each piece out a couple of times.  The main head shape I cut out of white cardstock three times and adhered together with the Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive.

For all the other pieces I cut once out of regular cardstock and then once with Easy Cut Adhesive applied to cardstock so that I could attach the flock after my shape was cut.  To accomplish this, I cut a 6×6 piece of cardstock, applied the Easy Cut Adhesive sheet to the cardstock and left the top protective cover on.  Next, I placed the combo cardstock/adhesive sheet onto my cutting mat, adhesive side up.  LEAVE THE PROTECTIVE COVERING ON THE ADHESIVE SHEET! I then set the machine to do a double cut, just to make sure it cut all the way thru.

Once my pieces were cut out, I started flocking them.  I peeled the protective covering from the adhesive sheet and placed each piece on the color of flock I had chosen for that piece.

For some of the shamrock pieces, I had to flock in White Latte and then ink in a couple of different green ink colors.  I love how these turned out!

Once all my pieces were flocked, I went back with the Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive and adhered those extra cardstock pieces to each piece to make it more like a chipboard element.  You could easily skip this step and only cut once!

PUTTING THE UNICORN TOGETHER

The center shamrock was done with the Green Envy and Emerald Green flock.  The other two shamrocks were the White Latte inked in the green colors.

Next, it was time to begin putting the layout together. I used my Memory Runner XL, along with some Easy Tear Adhesive Tape in a 1/2 to help me do that.  These are both GREAT options for adhering your paper layers!

From my leftover cutouts, I created some handmade shamrocks and inked them in the two colors of green I had used for the flock.  I used our new Foam Tape Rolls to adhere the shamrocks to my layout!

I also used the foam tape to adhere to the scalloped sticker border at the top of my page.  I love that you can easily cut it to the size you need!

And what do you think about that adorable little unicorn…or maybe big?!  I love her!  The picture below shows how much dimension I created with the layers. But like I said previously, you could easily do this with one layer for everything!

My last steps to complete my layout were to add those fun eyelashes that were flocked in the Black Velvet and then my title.  As I was creating my title, I felt like the unicorn needed a nose!  So the rainbow chipboard was a fun little accent for that!

A rainbow title and my layout was complete!  This layout definitely was something different for me, but I love how it turned out!!!  Thanks for stopping by today!!  And be your own unicorn!!!
