It’s so easy to inlay die cuts using Therm O Web’s iCraft Easy-Tear Tape. Today I’m going to share with you how to inlay some frame die cuts to create a pretty floral card accented with beautiful Deco Foil™ transfer sheets.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard Tut.1To begin my card, I die cut a stitched square shape from Neenah Solar White cardstock and stamped and colored my flower images.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard Tut.2To create the framework for my focal panel, I nestled two stitched square dies onto white cardstock, and held them in place with a bit of tape before running through my die cut machine.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard Tut.3This frame would look great as is, or die cut from a matching patterned paper, but I thought it would be fun to snaz it up with Deco Foil™. There are several ways to add foil to the frame, such as using our liquid Deco Foil Adhesive , or our new Deco Foil™ Pen, like I’ve done here. Simply press down the tip of the pen for about 30 seconds to get the adhesive flowing, and then “draw” a coat of glue all around the frame. Allow the glue to dry for about a minute, until the adhesive is tacky to the touch.

While the glue is drying, cut a piece of Deco Foil™ Transfer Sheet that is slightly larger than your die cut frame.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard Tut.5Place the foil transfer sheet down onto the frame, with the colored side up and the silver side down. Place the die cut between the cutting pads of your die cutting machine, and roll it through. You could also send the foil covered frame through a laminator, if you prefer.

Peel off the foil transfer sheet, and check out your fabulous foiled frame! Now if you like things a little on the shabby distressed side, like I do, you can randomly add the pen adhesive to your die cut, applying it in some areas while leaving other spots bare. I personally love that chippy look you get that way. I added a bit of lilac ink to the bare spots for a two-toned look. If you prefer solid coverage, just be sure you hit every spot with the adhesive pen before adding the foil sheet.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard Tut.7jpgTo inlay the die cuts, place them one inside the other, face down onto your work surface. Add strips of iCraft® Easy-Tear Adhesive Tape to the edges, being sure to apply the tape to both pieces. This will secure them snugly together. You can then remove the protective liner and adhere your die cut to your surface, or you can add a bit of craft foam if you prefer a little dimension.

AudreyPettit Thermoweb DecoFoil Mother'sDayCard Tut.8jpgTo finish my card, I inked a white card base with lilac ink and this fabulous rain drop stencil by Simon Says Stamp. For a bit of a different card base, I trimmed off about 1/4″ from the right side of the card, and then adhered it to a piece of patterned paper cut to a standard A2 size card base.

I added a simple stamped sentiment strip, adhered with Therm O Web 3D Foam Adhesive Squares. And finished with a button threaded with purple twine, adhered with a medium Zots™ Clear Adhesive Dot.

You made a gorgeous Mother’s Day card. Thank you for sharing. I couldn’t find a mention of the ribbon you used behind your stamped image?

Hi Denise..thanks for the great comment! That is a piece of the same print paper from the card just cut to look like a ribbon. Hope that helps!
