Are you ready for Spring? Spring seems to be confused this year in my area! It’s Katrina from Paper, Scissors and Glue sharing a DIY project to get you in the spring mood with some flowers made from the Clear Designer Toner Sheets. I cannot wait to show you what I discovered while making this project!

Spring Hoop Instructions:
Warm laminator for 20 minutes on the 5 mil setting (or a setting that is used as a higher heating level on your machine)
Trace embroidery hoop on the outside, to give you a guide to cut a circle. Cut around the circle about 1/2 inch bigger that traced circle. You need the extra to be able to fit around your inside hoop for the next step.
Place inside hoop on top of cut out and work paper up around sides. Place outer hoop over inside hoop and work on getting paper smooth. Trim excess paper off and sand if you like to make edges smooth.
TIP: If your paper is thicker, you may need to dampen it to do this step. You can mist water or run a slightly damp towel over the back of your paper. You only want to do the back in case your paper pills.TooltipTextDie cut flowers (or hand cut if you like) flowers out of Clear Designer Toner Sheets-Groovy. The number of flowers will depend on the size of flowers and size of the hoop. Foil die cuts using Deco Foil Transfer Sheets in Gold.
Stand back and admire that pretty gold shine! Don’t worry if some of the die cut edges are not completely covered, we will take care of that in the next step.
Run edges of die cut over an embossing pad, the juicier the pad the better. You don’t have to be precise. A solid flower would create a neater finished edge.
Next cover edges of each flower with embossing powder. You can use as many colors (or not) as you want. Now, you will use your heat gun to set the embossing powder. Turn the heat gun on to let it warm up for a couple of minutes to get good and hot then heat set the embossing powder by holding die cut with tweezers. You will need to be very careful not to burn yourself or melt the flower! Watch the embossing power for melting so that you know it’s done, I used a bright light, so that I knew when it was melted for sure.
You will end up with something that looks like this! You can play around with the heat gun and give the flowers extra dimension by heating from the back (so that you don’t burn the foil or embossing powder) and letting the plastic curl up a bit.
Cut some leaves out of craft felt, paper or whatever material you want to use. Get an idea of how you want the flowers and leaves to look before you adhere anything then, snap a picture with your phone so that you can recreate the same look. I snapped my picture below, then removed just the flowers. This lets me adhere the leaves one by one with the iCraft Mixed Media adhesive, lifting them as I went along.
You can additional vines from some white cardstock and attach them also with the iCraft Mixed Media Adhesive. If you want centers for your flowers, you can use buttons, sequins, enamel dots, etc. You can also punch a few butterflies for fun and adhere them also to the flowers and the vines.
I am so excited that I can heat emboss on these Clear Designer Toner Sheets! How fun is this going to be? Thanks for stopping by the Therm O Web blog today! SHARE THIS!
