Candy Wrapper Zipper Pouch Tutorial
Hi all! Alicia here again from Sew What Alicia. I love the holiday season! I just love trying to come up with creative ways to give sweet gifts. Today I want to share with you a fun quilted candy wrapper zipper pouch tutorial. These little pouches are perfect for filling with candy, cookies, or gift cards.
Candy Wrapper Zipper Pouch Tutorial
Supplies:
Thermoweb HeatnBond® Fusible Fleece Interfacing
Thermoweb HeatnBond® Iron on Vinyl
Candy wrappers (2)
7″ zipper
Coordinating Thread
Instructions:
The first step is to carefully cut the candy out of the wrapper. Slice along the top long edge of each candy bar. Remove the candy, sit down and eat the candy it is just going to interfere with your concentration 😉
Cut two pieces of fleece that are just a bit smaller than the inside of the wrapper. Stuff one piece into each of the wrappers.
Now cut four pieces of iron on vinyl. Each piece should be about 1/2″ longer than the wrapper on all sides. Sandwich one wrapper between two of the strips of iron on vinyl. Follow the instructions on the package to set the vinyl with an iron. Make sure and iron both sides. Let the pieces cool, if you handle them when they are hot they will warp. You also won’t be able to sew on the pieces until they have hardened at room temperature.
Using your presser foot as a guide quilt onto each piece of the wrapper.
Attach the zipper to the top of each of the wrappers.
Fold the pieces together and sew around the outside to close the pouch. Then use pinking shears to trim the edges about 1/4″ from the stitching. Trim the long ends of the zipper as well.
That is it! The inside is the ingredient list which is fun!
Now stuff with candy or other treats and enjoy!
P.S I also made a gift card wallet out of some candy wrappers!! Head over to Sew What Alicia to check it out!
