Hello my sewing friends!  I’m so happy to share a project with you today that is just super sweet and fun to make.  These little hanging hearts could not only be a Valentine’s gift for all your sweet gal friends, but it could be a year round gift to spread a little love.  I’ve made them in the past and put in little May Day baskets that I delivered to my girl friends.  I’ve also made them for Mother’s Day gift!  This can be a year-round project!  Hearts are for every day right?

The supplies are simple!

The first thing you’ll want to do is download my free tutorial with all the step by step instructions and photos that make this project so simple!

I chose to use some red fabrics from numerous Riley Blake collections; I’ve been collecting some of their reds so I dug into those!   I ironed them and cut into varying width strips.  This is also a great way to use up fabrics in your scrap bin! Have fun with this step and sew your strips or scraps together in any way that makes you happy!!

Another really fun thing about this project are the words!  I have put together a list of words and phrases that I love (free printable here) but you could also type up a list of your own.  My free tutorial steps you through the fun process of printing these words to fabric to cut and sew to your hanging heart!  If you’ve never used the HeatnBond EZ-Print Sheets, you are going to have so much fun with this step!

I love the entire process of turning scraps into a heart, adding sweet words, a few embellishments, hanging twine… and very quickly you’ve got the sweetest Hanging Hearts to gift to your favorite gals of all ages!

Even if you’re not ready to make this project now, go ahead and download and save my free Hanging Hearts Tutorial,  Heart Pattern and the Heart Words.  That way you’ll have it handy when you are ready!  And remember… these are fun for all occasions!

Happy Heart Day my friends!
