Ever since I was quite young, I’ve had a fondness for cross-stitch and embroidery, and I often have some sort of stitchery project going on the back burner. Recently I finished up this fun little fox pattern, and then I had an idea. I’ve often used Therm O Web’s beautiful Glitter Dust™ Spray on my papercrafts, but why not give it a try on fabric, too? I love the soft shimmer the Glitter Dust™ Spray added, and it was so quick and easy to do. Here’s all you need to do.
Start by hand-stitching your design onto fabric. I used a piece of scrap muslin I happened to have on hand.
Die cut a large scalloped circle into the center of a second piece of fabric, creating a framework to go over your stitched piece.
Spray the backside of the die cut fabric panel with Spray n’ Bond® Basting Adhesive and place over your stitched design, centering the stitching in the middle of the opening. The Basting Adhesive will hold the pieces together, without the need of pinning, yet is re-positionable, if you need to make any adjustments.
Once you have your fabrics in place, machine stitch around the frame opening, and trim your finished fabric panel to the desired size.
Working in a well-ventilated area, spray your fabric with Glitter Dust™ Gold Spray. Allow to dry thoroughly, then stitch the fabric panel onto a second piece of felt, leaving enough of an opening to fill the pillow with Polyfill fiber before stitching closed.
Adhere trim to the edges of the pillow tuck using Fabric Fuse Tape. And enjoy!
