jsteves_profilepic2012We were very fortunate when we asked Designer Jacquelynne Steves to join our team and she said yes! Knowing what all she has on her plate ..we’re thankful to have her and happy to share with you today a bit more so you too can get to know Designer Jacquelynne Steves! Here’s a link to see all of her projects she’s made for us too!

What is your favorite thing to do when not sewing or quilting? My favorite thing is just hanging out with my family by watching movies, going out to dinner, or going for a walk.

Do you have a favorite project you’ve made? It’s hard to choose! One of my favorites has been my Cozy Afternoon Block of the Month quilt- I did an appliqued version and a hand embroidered version. The theme is teacups- who doesn’t love teacups?

Where do you go for inspiration? I love stores like Anthropologie! I love the colors and textures. Sometimes, I just like to go for a walk out in nature to clear my head and rejuvenate.

Give us your top 3 colors? Red, red, and red!!! (and also, olive green and turquoise.)

Best or favorite dessert you make or love to eat? My daughter makes these Oatmeal Ginger Chocolate Chunk Cookies that I just love… they are my favorite, and I love it when she makes them for me.

If you could go anywhere (with unlimited funds) where would that be? I’ve been seeing photos of Iceland, and I’ve wanted to go for several years. We just booked the trip for this spring! I think it’s going to be a great adventure!

Describe yourself in a flower? Hmmm, that’s tough. I’d say, a rose because I can be very sweet but watch out because I do have thorns! LOL!

Book reader? Move watcher? Movie watcher! I like to read, but find that I often don’t have time. I can do embroidery while I sit and watch a movie.

And what is your favorite book or movie? I have a lot… recently I’ve re-watched the Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller. It’s about a very ordinary guy who spends his life playing it safe, and then ends up doing extraordinary things. Very inspiring! And I’ve recently read A Man Called Ove, which I really liked a lot.

Tell us about your family? I have a husband and 2 grown daughters and a son-in-law. We also have a cat named Maddie and an extremely spoiled Chihuahua named Alfie, who does a lot of my “quilt modelling” for me!

Favorite time of the year? Spring or Fall- I don’t like to be too hot or too cold!

And describe your Christmas tree or trees? Collectibles? Handmade? Bright colorful? etc Our Christmas decorations are pretty traditional. When the kids were younger, we used to have the tree loaded down with their handmade macaroni and felt ornaments- but once they got to college they put a stop to that! Now we put just one or two of their childhood handmade ornaments on the tree. I tend to decorate with a lot of fresh greenery at Christmas, I use pine and holly in vases and urns, I love the smell and the freshness that it brings to the home.
