Hello Crafty Friends!!

Deco Foil Layering Technique with Deco Foil Transfer Gel

Larissa here today to share a really FUN Layered Foiling Technique with you. If you’re new to foiling or have been wanting to give it a try, this technique is going to get you INSPIRED to give it a go!! I don’t know about you, but I always have a hard time picking just one color of Deco Foil to use on a project, that’s how this technique was born.

You can accomplish this technique in several ways, and over the next couple weeks, I’ll try to break each of them down so that you can create while using them too. Today we’re going to focus on using the Deco Foil Transfer Gel and any of your FAVORITE Stencils!!

Foil Layering Technique with Deco Foil Transfer Gel

Foil Layering Technique with Deco Foil Transfer Gel Instructions:

Start with a nice heavy weight cardstock, like the Gina K. Designs Premium Cardstock in Luxury White that has been Inked up using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and adhere your stencil over the top of the cardstock securing it in place with some Purple Tape.

Then take a spatula or knife and apply the Deco Foil Transfer Gel over the top of the stencil to create a nicely coated design. Remove the stencil and scrap any excess Gel back into the container and close the lid securely. Rinse your stencil right away with soap and water and set your cardstock piece aside to dry completely. Today I’m using the Newton’s Nook Designs Confetti Stencil.Once the piece has dried completely you’re ready for the FUN part. Pick the colors of Deco Foil you’d like to work with, I’d suggest 3-5 colors. You can experiment though and choose according to the design you have in mind. For my project today I’m going to work with 4 different colors: Gina K. Designs Fancy Foils in Sparkling Silver, Dazzling Orange, Twinkling Pink and Brilliant Blue.

Start by cutting your strips of foil. I usually cut judging by the size of the Stenciled Design I’m working with. Then decide if you’re going to create a proportional design or if you’re going for a random design. Start by placing all of the smaller pieces first, using small pieces of Purple Tape to secure them in place as you go. Continue this method until you have all of the pieces placed. Towards the end, you can overlap the pieces and you won’t have to worry about getting a color of foil somewhere you don’t want it.

Place your Foiled piece into a carrier sheet and run it through your laminating machine. I have found especially with the Deco Foil Transfer Gel that it only needs to run through the machine once. After it has cooled, you can start the remove the taped foil pieces. Be CAREFUL and take your time on this step, as you don’t want to ruin your project after all of this work.

Once your layered foiled piece is revealed you’ll just want to SQUEAL in DELIGHT as its always rewarding to see the finished results!! Then you can create anything you’d like with your creation. For today I’m going to create a Card, using the Gina K. Designs StampnFoil Stamp Set Time to Celebrate and the Gina K Designs Nested Circle Dies Double Stitch Design Small Set, along with the BEAUTIFUL Layered Foil Stenciled Background.

I Foiled some Deco Foil Toner Sheets in Gina K. Designs Fancy Foils Twinkling Pink and Brilliant Blue. Then I used the  Gina K Designs Nested Circle Dies Double Stitch Design Small Set to Die Cut them and I adhered them together to create the base for my Stamped and Embossed Sentiment using my iCraft Memory Tape Runner XL. A few iCraft 3-D Foam Squares were added to the back to pop it up of the Card Base!! Then a Few Crystal Clear Sequins finish off the Design.

THANKS SO MUCH for stopping by today and I hope you feel INSPIRED to give this Layered Foiled Technique a try!!?? If you create something I hope you’ll share it with us on social media using the #thermoweb, #deofoil and #ginakdesigns as we LOVE to see what you create!!

Have a FABULOUS Week!!
