Hello everyone this is Jenifer here with you today to share how I make my Travelers Notebook covers.  I have used a travelers notebook for years and years and I love being able to create new inserts every month. I love the versatility of changing out the covers and I swap them out frequently and when I am done with them I use them to hold finished inserts so no waste.

Fabric Travelers Notebook

For Gingham week I made a bright and cheerful cover that should last me through the Spring and most of the Summer.

SUPPLIES:

Heat N Bond Craft Ultrahold Fusible Adhesive

Fabric of your choice

Vinyl scrap

Lace

Oliso mini iron

Elastic, Eyelets

Cut your vinyl, fabric, and Heat N Bond Craft Ultrahold Fusible Adhesive to 11 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  If you decide to go with a pocket on the front you will find it easier to do this before you adhere to the Ultrabond.  The next step is to adhere the Ultrahold to the back of the fabric.

Peel back the paper and adhere the fabric to the vinyl.  I have not had any problems ironing the vinyl as long as you iron on the fabric side.  On a whim, I decided to sandwich in some lace along the edge, if you choose to do this do it before you iron your pieces together.

Use quilt clips to hold your front and back together and stitch close to the edge all the way around.  Vinyl is easy to trim off after everything has been stitched so you don’t have to worry about your edge.

Using a Cropadile or an eyelet tool create your holes and place your eyelets.

You will need 22″ of elastic for the center band that holds your traveler’s notebook closed and 36″ of elastic for the inserts.

This will hold at least 4 inserts and sometimes I carry up to 6 depending on what I am working on.

There is also an option to have an inside pocket.  Cut a 2 1/2″ strip of fabric and used the same method as the cover and sew it on when you sew around the entire notebook.
