Deco Foil Unicorn Goodie Bag

Alicia here from Sew What Alicia. It is no secret that DecoFoil™ is one of my absolute favorite things to use in my craft room! I love the shine! If I could I would add foil to everything! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I wanted to share a fun Valentine’s Day project with you all. Here is a DecoFoil™ unicorn goodie bag. It is the perfect gift for those non romantic loves of your life!

2 Fabric Pieces Measuring 6×8″

2 Fabric Pieces Measuring 4×8″

Two Pieces of Rainbow Ribbon ~4-6″

Deco Foil™ Unicorn Bag Instructions:

The first step in creating this goodie bag is to add the unicorn to the two largest pieces of fabric. This video will show you the process that works best for me to add foil to fabric. If you have a Silhouette you can use this CUT FILE to cut the same unicorns. The biggest tip to take away from the video is to run the piece through the laminator three times without moving the paper. (You can also use your iron to heat set both the Deco Foil™ Hot Melt and then the Deco Foil™ Transfer Sheets.) For MORE tips and trick for using foil check out this post —> How to Use DecoFoil Three Ways.

Once you have attached the foil you are ready to put the bag together. First press and sew the top edge under on the two 4×8 and the two 6×8 pieces (press the 6″ edge and the 4″ edge under.) This will give the top of the bag a smooth edge.

Now sew the pieces together in this order. 6″,4″, 6″, 4″ (pictured below.)

Then sew the last two together to create a bag (like a paper bag) shape. Then use the last piece of fabric to create the bottom. You will have to use y seams to attach the corners. This is what your piece will look like before you turn it out.

Turn the piece out. If you are VERY careful you can press the four edges to make the seams lie flat. DO NOT touch the foil with the iron because it will really screw it up!

Now grab your ribbons and use them to create handles on either side of the bag. Pin them in place at the same time lying the bag flat so that the ribbons are lined up in the same place at all four points.
