Boo! Did I scare you? It that time of year of little ghosts and goblins.
Hi, again! It’s Amy from Sew Incredibly Crazy bringing you a super easy and cute candy corn banner that doesn’t require a lot of time.
For supplies you will need:
Three strip of fabric:
2.5″ x width of fabric – orange, yellow, and white
I choose Riley Blake gingham for my Candy Corn Banner.
6 1/2″ x width of fabric for the backing of your banner
HeatnBond® Lite – cut a piece at 6 1/2″ x the width of your fabric, you will have to piece one together
iCraft® Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive
Ruler
First, sew your fabric strips together. I sewed them in the color order of a candy corn.
Iron your HeatnBond® Lite to the wrong side of the fabric.
Remove the paper backing and iron to the wrong side of your backing fabric.
The HeatnBond® Lite layer adds some substance to your fabric.
Trim the top and the bottom edge of your fabric with your pinking shears or rotary cutter.
You don’t have to use a pinking blade, but I do love the look of it.
Get your ruler, most have a 30 degree line on them. You will be using this angle.
I cheated and used Dresden ruler. It made cutting them a snap. I just rotated the ruler.
After cutting out all my pendants, which should be 11 (you might end up with 12).
I made a straight stitch with orange. You would not have to sew this edge if you used HeatnBond® Ultrahold.
Next, find you favorite lettering and make sure you like the size.
Trace them onto your sheet of iCraft® Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive, bumpy side down.
Cut out your letters and iron them onto your pendants.
I put the “or” on a single pendant.
Cut your foil to size and iron it on to the adhesive.
Make sure that when you are ironing on the foil that
you put a little pressure into the seams with your iron.
Let the foil cool completely before removing.
I just love the sheen of the iCraft® DECO FOIL™ Black.
I used grommets to add in the corners of the pendants.
You could sew a ribbon or bias tape across the top of the
banner instead.
Add the grommets it the top corners. Use ribbon or jute to tie the pendants together.
I used 9″ pieces of jute for the centers and 28″ pieces to use on the ends.
After, I was finished with my bows, I dabbed a bit of Fabric Fuse into the knot to prevent
it from being untied.
And there you have a cute little banner to add to your spooktacular décor.

Patchwork Breeze
October 8, 2015 at 9:36 pm (9 years ago)This is such a cute project. I am glad I found the tutorial on how to use this product. I have a special challenge quilt to make and it involves gold. This would work well but I will have to check out how and what I could cut for the graphics with my Scan N Cut. Any ideas?
