Deco Foil Fall Fox Mixed Media Clock
by Heather Collins
This is my favorite time of the year, the air is crispy; not too hot or too cold. Perfect weather taking a walk and enjoying the weather. You never know what you are going to see. It really gives me a sense of peace unlike anything else in the world.
Deco Foil Fall Fox Home Decor
I wanted to capture the fall foliage in a one-of-a-kind piece. To start I foiled Deco Foil Transfer Sheets in Copper and half of a leaf sheet front the Brutus Monroe Toner Mixables – Floral Fantasy.
Next I ink blended a Yellow and then an orange ink from “Pink Fresh” using a Blending Brush by Taylored Expressions. I cut this out to fit into the inside back of my Tim Holtz Curio Clock. To give the piece a shadow box feel I attached Tim Holtz mini string lights using Gina K Terrific Tape 1/4” twice around, and secured the switch onto the bottom of the piece.
Then I took gesso and painted it onto paper towels and bunched it up and laid it onto my Tim Holtz Curio Clock. This had to be completely dry before going any further. To get the wood slice on the back of the clock I put some gesso and modeling paste and swirled a comb I got from the dollar store and then let this completely dry.
To add interest I made some mushrooms and painted them also out of paper towels and gesso. Then using the Sizzix Geo Floral Frame cutting die I cut out some mini flowers and leaves Decofoil Flock Transfer Sheets – Sunshine Yellow and Green Envy. Then using an X-Acto knife I scraped off some of the Flock. Next, I rolled some stems into iCraft Ultra Bond Adhesive and then attached some scrapes of Flock and some of the flowers. I painted the stems like the mushrooms I made. When I was adding the stems to my piece I also added some scraping.
I stamped the Brutus Monroe Intent stamp onto Brutus Monroe Alabaster using the Brutus Monroe Raven Detail ink. I colored my fox with Derwent Inktense Pencils and blended my colors using a Brutus Monroe Aqua Pigment Brush. Then fussy cut them out and bend the tail so they could appear to be sitting when I attached them to the dried moss I placed inside my piece.
To finish my project I attached the mushrooms, pills, dried moss, stems, Flocked leaves and flowers. I also sprayed iCraft Pixie Spray and brushed on some foil flakes. Then splattered some brown, black and copper paint.
The finished piece is just ideal for fall decor don’t you think? Be sure to join us all this week for Woodland Animal projects!
