Take a close look at the picture above: no, the kitchen gear featured on the pockets of this wall hanging were not appliqued – I used Deco Foil by Therm-O-web, the same company that manufactures THE ONLY fusible web I have used for the past gazillion years – HeatnBond® Lite. Deco Foils are fantastic to add extra shine to your quilting projects and I am loving the effect they had on this quilt. They come in beautiful colors, too, so they can complement just about any quilt.

Although the Hot Melt sheets (you cut your design on them, press them onto fabric, peel paper then place Deco Foil™ on top and iron it there) mention that you can cut your design using a die cutter or electronic cutter, for this project I actually copied the fabric design onto the Hot Melt sheet and then applied the shapes to the pocket fabric. It worked like a charm!

I find that ironing the Deco Foil™ for about 35 seconds and then waiting just until the foil is at room temperature to remove it provides the best results. I also prefer to use the Deco Foil™ against a solid background so it really stands out.

Come back tomorrow as I will post another project I made using Deco Foil, this time for Christmas. In fact, I will be featuring my projects with Deco Foil all this week. If you happen to be attending the quilt show in Houston, stop by their booth to see these and other projects live!

Enjoy the day,
