Hello and welcome!
It’s Julia from Inflorescence Designs! I’m so joyful you are visiting today. Today I am featuring fabric designed by Jennifer Long from Sew a Story.
This fabric is called “Created with Love” by Riley Blake Designs. It features images that tell the Creation Story in the Bible. I used both yardage as well as one panel. The panel is generally used to create a soft fabric book, but I wanted to use it in my skirt. (Unfortunately I sewed it UPSIDEDOWN! OOPS–but now I can read the words since they face me.)
Gathered Tiered Skirt

Supplies:
- Created With Love fabric from Riley Blake Designs (amount varies depending on how many tiers and your size.)
- Basic Sewing Notions
- Olfa Cutting Mat
- Oliso Iron
- Serger (or zigzag machine stitch)
- Elastic for the waistband (size will vary)
- HeatnBond Hem Regular Weight Iron-On Adhesive Tape, 3/8 in
Instructions:
To make this skirt, I followed a tutorial by Mrs. G’s Sewing Space. The only difference is I patchworked my skirt tiers together and I only made 3 tiers. To make a patchwork skirt, you simply create a patchwork top that has the measurements you need for each tier.
Keep in mind, when creating patchwork, you need to figure in the seam allowance of each piece. Additionally, you will need to use a serger, zigzag stitch or using pinking shears so the inside of the skirt doesn’t fray.
To make the hem, I used HeatnBond Hem Regular Weight Iron-On Adhesive Tape, 3/8 in. I used this before adding the final stitching. It helped keep my hem nice and straight which can be challenging when hemming something that is in a circle.

Thank you for visiting today! Come back soon to see what else will be starting to bloom with Inflorescence Designs!
