2018 Creativation was simply amazing and products that were brought out by the companies this year truly were remarkable. The New Gina K Designs StampnFoil Collection, iCraft Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets and iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Sheets equals an amazing combination. Once one sees them in person they will simply feel a driving need to create that cannot be held back.
Create a Dazzling Dressform with Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheets
Take a paper mache plain dress form from a big box store and coat with two coats of clear gesso. Let this dry thoroughly before going any further. By doing this step the paper mache will allow you to put products on it without it simply soaking it up. On a craft mat smear Brutus Monroe ‘Cornflower’ surface ink.
Next, take a medium tipped water brush and brush on an outline of the style of dress you want to put on the dressform. For this project, a sleeveless one seemed like the most fitting to show off the products. On the base of the dress one only has to go half way down. The rest will be covered with the toner sheets. Then I smeared ‘Cornflower’ and ‘Oz’ Brutus Monroe surface inks on the part of the dress form where the dress should appear. Using the waterbrush to blend the colors together to have a cohesive looking dress. Make sure you use your heat tool to set the surface inks.
Next with a Big Shot out of printed cardstock cut out a ‘Jennifer’ Big Mandala shape. The cardstock had a pattern printed on it. You will place right side up Silver iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Sheet between parchment paper and run through a laminator. Carefully peel back the toner sheet and what is left is the silver attaching itself to where the print on the cardstock had been. I took this Mandala and put aside to be attached later.
Use a palette knife to add iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Gel in areas, making sure to get plenty on the top front of the form. After waiting for the gel to mostly but not completely dry lay a sheet of iCraft ‘Silver Shattered Glass’ iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Sheet where the gel was placed and run a brayer over the form to transfer the foil.
Take iCraft Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets ‘Branching Out’ and cut into two-inch strips, also a Black iCraft Deco Foil Toner Sheet. Lay Turquoise Sea Fancy Foil Transfer Sheet on the ‘Branching Out’ sheet and run through the laminator. Then place this piece on the Black toner sheet and run through the machine again. Lastly, take a piece of Silver iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Sheet and run through the machine on the black toner sheet that has the Turquoise Sea already. Then using a scoreboard, score every half an inch down the length of the paper; folding back and forth when done.
Apply Mixed Media Adhesive to connect the folded paper, using clothespins to hold in place for about five minutes for a solid grip. Then using Zots 3D Clear Adhesive Dots by Therm O Web and place on the dress form to attach the folded paper about every third fold. Cut a piece of grey mash material to glue down between the layers. And then apply the clear strip the same way as the bottom strip. Lay a piece of ribbon on the top layer seems to make a virtual waistband. Apply gems for a button look.
Using Gina K Designs StampnFoil Collection ‘Butterfly Kisses’ StampnFoil Foil-Mates Detail Sheets and Craft die set along with iCraft Purple Tape to cut out the butterflies perfectly. The Purple tape can be reused, you don’t need a lot and doesn’t stick, even to foiled images. ‘Silver Shattered Glass’ iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Sheet was placed on top of the Foil-Mates Detail Sheet between parchment paper and put through the laminator. Using the Small Zots Adhesive Dots attach two of the butterflies for a layered look, bending ever so slightly in the center.
To finish everything off, take the Mandala piece you did earlier and using Mixed Media Adhesive to the back of the dress form. This will give a slightly winged look. Though there were several steps to this project you will find that you will get into a steady groove to the whole thing and the finished project is well worth it.
