Beach Towel Instructions:

Step 1:

Print the personalized name on computer paper.  Choose a font that is fat and bold.  The font used here is Cooper Black and the font size is 400.  Next, lay the name down on a light table or hard surface with the right side down.  This step is important for making the letters mirror imaged and right side up for the applique.

Place the HeatnBond Soft Stretch Lite Iron-On Fusible Adhesive with the paper side up on top of the computer paper and trace the letters with a permanent marker.

Step 2:

Cut the letters apart, leaving space around the letter.  Preheat the iron to high heat, no steam.

After choosing the fabric for each letter, place one of the fabrics on an ironing surface right side down and press.  Place the HeatnBond Soft Stretch Lite Iron-On Fusible Adhesive traced letter paper side up and adhesive side down on the wrong side of the fabric.  Place and hold the iron on the paper liner for 5 seconds.  Repeat until the entire surface of the letter is bonded and allow it to cool.  Cut the letter on the traced line.  Repeat this step for all of the letters.

Step 3:

Place the towel right side up on the ironing surface and press.  Next, peel the backing paper off the letters and place the letters, with the adhesive side down, on top of the towel.

To make the butterfly applique, cut a 4″ x 4″ piece of HeatnBond Soft Stretch Lite Iron-On Fusible Adhesive.  Choose the butterfly from the fabric that will be fussy cut for the applique.  Lay the fabric right side down on the ironing surface and press. Lay the 4″ x 4″ piece of HeatnBond Soft Stretch Lite Iron-On Fusible Adhesive on top of the wrong side of the butterfly fabric with adhesive side down and place and hold the iron on the paper liner for 5 seconds.  After the adhesive has cooled, cut around the butterfly.

Peel the backing paper from the butterfly and place on the towel with the letters.

Step 4:

With steam, press and hold the iron on the fabric letters for 20 seconds.  Now, repeat on each section until all of the letters and butterfly are bonded.

Step 5:

Machine stitch around each letter with a zigzag, blanket, or straight stitch with Aurifil 50 weight cotton thread #2530.

Use the STITCH n SEW STABILIZER if needed to stabilize the design while it’s stitched by simply pinning a piece underneath the towel. Tear the stabilizer away after the stitching is complete.

These towels would be perfect for your favorite workout partner too.  I can’t think of anyone that could not use a personalized towel.  Let the gift making proceed!
