Hi there Therm O Web fans,  Jenifer here today to share a fun patriotic pillow perfectly timed for Election Day here in the US.

Pillows are such a great way to try out fun new techniques. I have been wanting to try this quilt as you go technique from Maureen Cracknell, this pillow was the perfect opportunity to give it a try.

Here is the finished pillow.
After following Maureen’s instructions you are left with a beautiful piece of work that only took a few scraps of fabric and a little bit of time.  I wanted to decorate my patriotic pillow with some silver star foiled stars.  Cut out some star shapes out of the Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive and randomly place them on the pillow.  After allowing the Deco Foil Hot Melt Adhesive to cool completely peel off the paper and iron on the foil.  Allow the foil to cool completely before peeling off.
Trim is a nice way to add a little bit of extra something to pillows and projects.  One thing I like to do is use a little bit of fabric fuse to help hold my trim down and keep in place before I sew.
A close up of the lovely shiny stars and the fun ricrac trim giving it a little bit of a fun scallop.

If you are hesitant in trying a new technique or using new products do something small to start out with.  I had so much fun with the quilt as you go technique I can’t wait to try it again.
