What do you think of when you think of mixed media projects? I always think of grungy and dark colored projects. Well, they don’t have to be. You can do a little mixed media or a lot on a project. AND you can add some DecoFoil™ as your mixed media medium for your project.

I did a very feminine take on mixed media for this layout. I really wanted this to have that type of a feel to it and not a heavy, dark feel. DecoFoil™ in Champagne was the perfect touch to add for some mixed media without overwhelming the layout.
Here are a few steps on how I put this layout together. When I start with DecoFoil™ I always let my laminator warm up for at least 20 minutes before using it for any DecoFoil technique. For the technique I did here, I did not apply glue from the glue pen evenly as I wanted a messy look to my foil.
Use NEW DecoFoil™ Adhesive Glue Pen to apply the shape of a stencil on background layer of layout. Run glue pen over each open area, let dry slightly and then layer foil transfer sheet on top. Place inside a carrier sheet (here I used parchment paper) to run thru laminator. Let cool slightly and lift off transfer sheet to reveal foil.
Add some mist to layout by flicking it on, and not spraying it. Take cap off of bottle, and flick the cap, which will cause the ink that is on the plastic tube to “flick” onto your layout. Adhere layers together with Mini Tape Runner. NOTE: If you get a big blob, like below, it’s easily fixable. Just dab with a paper towel, or if you like it, let it dry before working around it!
Add touches of DecoFoil™ to a doily by using the Adhesive Glue Pen and adding touches of adhesive around the outside edges. Apply DecoFoil after glue has dried.
NOTE: I discovered this is a GREAT way to use up those “scraps” of foil you may have laying around!
Use the combo pack of 3D Foam Adhesive squares to give your layout some dimension.
Add touches of foil on the background design of layout. This is easy to do with the Adhesive Glue Pen.
So, if you are scared of mixed media, just start out with something like this to get your hands into it. I love how this turned out and I am sure I will be doing some of this again soon! Have a great week!
