Today, it’s Ellen here taking over the blog. I’m excited to share a festive project created for the ThermOWeb blog in collaboration with Photo Play Paper Co. Using their beautiful Silent Night Christmas Collection designed by Jennifer Long of Sew A Story together with ThermOWeb’s amazing foils and textures, I made a 4-week Advent Calendar complete with a coordinating decorative board. This set truly brings the warmth of the season to life!
Silent Night Meets ThermOWeb Magic
The Silent Night Christmas Collection from Photo Play Paper is filled with soft colors, nativity imagery, and traditional Christmas motifs. I used a mix of their cardstock, patterned papers, stickers, and ephemera to build the foundation for each Advent box.
To elevate the project with sparkle and texture, I incorporated a selection of ThermOWeb products:
- Gina K. Designs Fancy Foils in Glittering Green, Brilliant Blue, Radiant Red, Glimmering Gold, and Grass Green
- Deco Foil Plush Papers for soft, dimensional accents (Cherry Red, Pine Green, Sunshine Yellow and Teal Waters)
The combination of these products gave the Advent Calendar a magical Christmas vibe—glittery, cozy, and full of dimension.
Each of the four Advent boxes was created using a steel die set to cut the base shapes. I used both solid cardstock and patterned papers from the Silent Night collection so each box had its own storytelling moment.
Here’s the step-by-step process repeated for all four boxes:

Cut the Box Shape
Using the die set, I cut the box bases from heavyweight cardstock to ensure sturdiness. I folded everything and finished constructing the boxes with the super tapes. -
Add the Patterned Panels
I die-cut decorative panels from the Silent Night patterned papers and adhered them to the fronts and sides of the boxes with iCraft UltraBond Clear Adhesive. This gave each box a unique nativity-inspired look. -
Create the Foiled Numbers
Each box features a large foiled number representing its week in Advent.
I applied my chosen Gina K Fancy Foils to number die-cuts using ThermOWeb’s Solid Black Deco Foil Toner Card Fronts, resulting in bright, sparkling digits that immediately draw attention.
- Decorate with Stickers & Ephemera
The Silent Night collection comes with the cutest ephemera and stickers. Angels, stars, banners, greenery, and little nativity scenes added storytelling charm to each box. Using 3D Foam Adhesive adds perfect dimension to each sticker. - Add Plush Paper Embellishments
I used ThermOWeb Deco Foil Plush Papers to cut small shapes—star and heart accents. Their soft, fuzzy texture created beautiful contrast with the glossy foils and patterned papers.
With all elements added, each box felt special and meaningful—perfect for the countdown tradition of Advent.
The Coordinating Advent Board
To complete the project, I crafted a matching display board to present alongside the Advent boxes.
For the backdrop, I used more papers from the Silent Night collection, featuring soft greens and nativity designs. On top of that, I added:
- A large nativity ephemera piece
- Foiled accents using Gina K. Designs Fancy Transfer Foil, Grass Green and Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheets, Splatter
- A bold “ADVENT” title in radiant Cherry Red plush paper.
- A sentiment banner reading “All is calm, all is bright” from the ephemera pack
- A cozy fabric bow and jingle bells to finish the piece.
The board ties everything together and creates a beautiful focal point for the Advent celebration.
This Advent Calendar was such a joy to create. The combination of Photo Play Paper’s Silent Night Collection by Jennifer Long of Sew A Story and ThermOWeb’s foils, plush textures, and toner sheets brought exactly the Christmas magic I was hoping for—shiny, warm with modern traditional elements!
