Hi everyone, it’s Audrey! I hope you’ve all been enjoying the fabulous match up we had last week with our friends at Simple Stories as much as I have. Well, we’re going to keep the ball rolling, and today we are kicking off another week of Simple Stories fun with some amazing projects and prizes . I have created three cards and a money holder to share with you featuring the adorable Cozy Christmas collection. I really love the natural, woodsy vibe and colors of this line, and hope you will, too. First up, a money holder, and a quick tutorial to go along with it.
Dec 25 Money Holder Card
Supplies:
Therm O Web Mini Tape Runner
Therm O Web 3D Adhesive Squares
Therm O Web 1/8″ SuperTape
Therm O Web Medium Zots™ Clear Adhesive Dots
Simple Stories Cozy Christmas: 12×12 Paper, Cardstock Stickers, Chipboard Shapes
Cardstock: Bazzill
Oval Dies: Papertrey Ink
2″ Circle Punch: Marvy Uchida
Ink: Tsukineko
Scoring Board or Bone Folder
To begin, cut a 8.5″ x 7″ piece of cardstock for the base of the money holder. I used plain white cardstock, but you can use a color to complement your patterned papers, if desired.
Using a scoring board or bone folder, score the long 8.5″ side at 3.25″ and 6.5″.
The small 2″ end flap will fold closed to the inside to create a pocket, as seen here.
But before we create the pocket, we’ll first make a notch cut out which will make it easier to add and remove the money from the holder. To do this, mark the center point of the side flap, then place a 2″ circle punch about halfway down, centering the punch opening with the pencil mark. Punch to remove the half circle.
Apply 1/8″ SuperTape on the top and bottom edges of the side flap, being sure to adhere the tape very close to the edge. Then remove the red protective liner.
And seal the pocket closed.
Cut patterned papers to fit the cover of the money holder. I like to add machine stitching, but didn’t want the stitches to show on the inside of the holder, to I adhered my papers to a piece of scrap paper first, then stitched, and finally adhered my paper to the cover using Therm O Web Mini Tape Runner adhesive.
Cut a 12″ strip of contrasting patterned paper. Place one end of the strip against the left edge of the money holder, and bend the strip around to the back, and then back up to the front. Bend the strip loosely so that it can easily slide on and off. Cut a V-notch into the end of the strip, then lightly tack the end of the strip onto itself using Medium Zots™ dots.
Die cut some layered ovals from patterned paper and cardstock, and adhere to the belly band using Zots™ adhesive dots. Apply 3D Adhesive Squares onto the back of the Dec 25 chipboard piece and adhere to the ovals. Affix a chipboard heart using another Zots™ dot. Add a sentiment sticker across the bottom of the holder.
And now, a couple of cards.
Each card was made with a variety of Cozy Christmas patterned papers, cardstock stickers, and chipboard shapes.
I used Therm O Web Mini Tape Runner to adhere the papers, and Zots™ dots and 3D Adhesive Squares to apply the embellishments. A bit of machine stitching adds a decorative touch.
To dress up the cards a little bit further, I added a few scattered adhesive pearls, and a bit of trim, too.
I hope you enjoy!
