Hi! Chrissie here! I love the look of combining foiling and watercolors.  The softness of the watercolor with the brightness of the foil just gives a stunning effect! I created a card for Grandparent’s Day using this technique and I’ll show you how I did it!

Project Instructions:

Trim a piece of white cardstock to 3.75 x 5.  Then, die cut the heart die out of White Foam Adhesive.

GP1

Using the negative piece as a template, lightly trace a heart using a pencil in the lower right corner of the panel.  This will be a guide so we know where to paint.

GP2 GP3

Add color using Spectrum Aquas and the waterbrush.  I chose Aquamarine and Purple because I thought it would be a good contrast with the gold.

GP4

Once it is dry, erase the pencil lines.

GP5

Peel off the back of the die cut and lay it down over the painted area.  It’s really sticky, so be careful.  Use tweezers if you need to.  This might help placement a bit.

GP6

Peel off the front side and press the gold foil down.  Make sure the silver side is face down and the gold color is face up.  Press the foil into the adhesive with your finger.  You can also burnish it using a bone folder.

GP7

Gently peel back the gold.  The foil transferred onto the die cut heart.

GP8

Stamp the sentiment on a black strip of cardstock in VersaMark ink and cover with white embossing powder.  Use a heat gun to activate the powder.

GP9

Flick the gold from the Spun Gold marker onto the card panel, towards the top part of it.

GP10

Using the XL Tape Runner, adhere the panel to the black cardstock, then onto the card base (4.25 x 11, scored at 5.5).  Add the sentiment strip using 3D Foam Squares.

GP11

Finally, add sequins using small Zots™ singles to finish off the card.

I’ve never seen a gold marker you can flick before. Interesting.
