It’s another day of the Christmas Joy Sew Along and that means another block to sew. Be sure to check yesterday’s post about the sew-along to get the first block and the details for making a quilt that will measure 50″ x 58″. The techniques involved in this sew along involve piecing and applique.

Christmas Sew Along

Block Two is an applique block of the big guy himself, Santa Claus! You’ll need to make two of him. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have two Santa’s in real life so we’d get twice the surprise on Christmas morning! You can find the pattern for Santa HERE  .

When getting your applique designs ready, there’s nothing easier than using Heat n Bond Lite, Iron-on Adhesive or Heat n Bond EZ Print Lite Sheets. You won’t ruin your fingernails trying to peel off the protective paper from the back, because it comes off so easy!

HeatnBond EZ Print Lite

Another way to speed up your applique process is to use the Heat n Bond EZ Print Lite Sheets. No tracing, just run your designs through your inkjet printer and it’s ready to iron on to your fabric!

Fabrics needed for Santa – Fat quarters or large scraps for beard, face, body, mittens, hat.

Cut 2 – 8 1/2” x 8 1/2” squares from applique background fabric for Santa. Follow the package directions and the key for applying designs to fabrics.

Make two Santa’s.

Yesterday’s post had a snowman and instructions for making 12 hourglass blocks, so check it out. Tomorrow will bring another block to the blog and we can’t wait to share it!

We’d love to see the progress of your blocks on Instagram or Facebook. Tag your posts with #thermoweb so we can see them!

Oh, thanks! I didn’t realize you had the second one up already. This is a great pairing with the snowman.
