Another day, another block for the Christmas Joy Sew Along and we’re excited to share it with you! Hopefully, you grabbed both patterns from the last two days because you’ll need them to finish the 50″ x 58″ quilt for this sew-along. The first sew-along post on Monday had all the details on fabric and the hourglass blocks instructions for the quilt. Be sure to check it out and get the other blocks! The final quilt directions will be posted on December 11th.
Christmas Sew Along
Applique Block Three – Christmas Tree (make five): Pattern can be found HERE.
HeatnBond EZ Print Lite
Using Heat n Bond EZ Print Lite Sheets makes adding applique to your projects a breeze. They are easy to print (no tracing) if you use the EZ Print Lite Sheets in your inkjet printer.
Fabrics needed for Christmas Trees – Fat quarters or large scraps for trees, stars, and balls.
Cut 5 – 8 1/2” x 8 1/2” squares from applique background fabric for the five trees.
Placing applique keys under an applique sheet makes it easy to know where to place the pieces.
When stitching around the trees you can use a machine zig-zag, straight, or blanket stitch. These trees have a machine blanket stitch holding them in place. Of course, you can always turn and hand stitch the edges if you want to. If you do that, be sure to add a quarter-inch seam around the edges when cutting them out.
Don’t forget to get the other blocks and project info! We’d love to see the progress of your blocks on Instagram or Facebook. Tag your posts with #thermoweb so we can see them!
