Whelp this is a fun one…we are for the first time joining efforts with our friends at Benzie Design. If you’re not familiar you’ll soon be once you see all the incredible projects we have for you this week.

Benzie Design is an amazing store based out of Chicago, IL (where we are too!) that offers incredible products like wool felt and felt poms, wool roving, beautiful felt kits and so much more. Truly so much more! Here’s a little bit about how they got started…

Our journey began in 2010, when felt maven, creative mind, and founder Renae Bradley opened shop from her home’s basement. It quickly became clear that you can’t contain a rainbow in 700 square feet, so Renae expanded her felt stitchery—first to a more robust, vibrant e-commerce space, then to our bright, lively brick + mortar store in Plainfield, IL.

We now house wool blends in 90+ colors and ship felt, poms, tools and notions worldwide, to any spot on earth the rainbow touches. Benzie felt has been featured in HGTV Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens magazine, Macy’s Flower Show (Chicago), and in the Dreamworks Animation film, Trolls.

Pretty cool right? We hope you’ll stick with us this week and also go visit Benzie as well to see what projects our talented team of educators has for you for our Christmas In July Collab!

Hey friends! This is Amanda from Twiddler’s Nook today and I’m SO EXCITED to share in the collaboration between Thermoweb and Benzie Design for Christmas in July!!! I love both of the products these companies make and putting the two together is just a match made in heaven! I have a couple of projects to share with you today so let’s take a look and break down the supplies!

Supplies used on today’s projects:
Deco Foil Slimline Toner Card Front – Candy Stripes
Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheets – Prim Poinsettia
Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheets – Rustic Winter
Deco Foil Transfer Sheets – Red and Bronze
iCraft PeelnStick Fabric Fuse Adhesive Sheets
iCraft Fabric Fuse Liquid Adhesive
iCraft Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive
iCraft XL tape runner
Benzie Design Christmas Palette Wool Blend Felt
DMC Embroidery Floss – coordinating colors to Christmas Palette
Benzie Design Ugly Christmas Sweater dies
Lawn Fawn Put a Bow On It dies
Pink & Main Thin Alpha dies
Newton’s Nook Pines & Holly dies
Newton’s Nook Fancy Edges Tag dies
Ellen Hutson Bear Hugs dies
Trinity Stamps Black Eyed Baubles
Trinity Stamps Slimline Modern Embossed Panels dies
Trinity Stamps Blending Buddy brush
Lawn Fawn cilantro ink

I started my projects today with those fun bear ornaments. I die cut all of the elements – body parts, gifts and bows. Then I used Fabric Fuse liquid adhesive to tack the arms in place and glue the bows together.

Next, I used coordinating DMC floss to stitch and stuff the bears. I used a dab of liquid adhesive to add the bows to the gifts but I cut squares of Fabric Fuse PeelnStick sheets to adhere the gifts to the bears, tucking them under their hands.

With those finished, I set them aside and moved on to the tags I wanted to go with them. Once my laminator was heated up I ran the rustic winter clear toner sheet through with bronze deco foil and the prim poinsettia clear toner sheet with red deco foil. Using the Newton’s Nook fancy edges tag dies, I cut the toner sheets and an additional white tag. Then I cut white toppers for each tag and ink blended them with a blending brush and green ink. I used iCraft XL tape runner to adhere the tag layers together just at the top.

At this point, I threaded some embroidery floss through it all and tied them together. You’ll see later that I didn’t like it and I spruced it up a little with some gingham ribbon and black baker’s twine. Much cuter!

Now, let’s take a look at this fun Christmas card, shall we?!?

I started by using the Benzie Design Ugly Christmas Sweater dies and cut all of my elements from their wool blend felt. I used a lighter green DMC floss to stitch my elements to the front of the sweater for a little contrast. Then I came in with Fabric Fuse liquid adhesive to adhere the bow to the front and the whole sweater to the back panel. I did turn a paperclip into a clothes hanger and slid it in my ornament so it could hang on the card and on the tree! It’s easy and so fun!

With my laminator still heated up, I ran a slimline candy stripes toner card front through with red deco foil for my card front. It just screams candy cane! And now I really want candy canes…

Next, I cut a matching piece of green felt and added it to a piece of Fabric Fuse PeelnStick adhesive sheet. Then I ran it through my die cut machine with Pink & Main Thin Alpha creating felt stickers that say Ho Ho Ho. I just couldn’t resist!

I die cut the candy stripe panel with the largest Trinity Stamps Slimline Modern Embossed Panel die and used Ultra Bond liquid adhesive to adhere it to a white card base, tucking black baker’s twine under the edge for the sweater to hang on. Then I stuck my felt sticker letters in place. I thought the top was a little sparse so I die-cut some cute holly from Newton’s Nook Pines & Holly die set and adhered it with Ultra Bond as well.

Here’s one more look at the bear ornaments and tags. These guys were so fun to create and I really can’t wait to give them out at Christmas! They’ll be perfect to dress up someone’s gift for sure!

And another look at the fun Christmas card too! I have a special friend in mind for this fun card! They will really appreciate that awesome ugly Christmas sweater. Haha!

I hope you enjoyed today’s creations and find some inspiration to create something wonderful! I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

Our friends at Benzie Design are cooking up some inspiration of their own with our products. You’ll definitely want to take time to visit their blog and see their projects! Be sure to follow them on social and their talented team as well!
