Hi! It’s Amanda from Jedi Craft Girl! I love this time of year, don’t you!! Life gets really busy and it’s hard to find time to sew new projects – that’s why I love this mini quilt – it is super fast & easy – you can make it in an afternoon!
Supplies:
1 charm pack, I used Posh Pumpkins by Moda
1/4 yard cream fabric for letters
1 yard for back
1/4 yard fabric for binding
cotton batting
HeatnBond® Lite Fusible Applique
SpraynBond® Basting Adhesive Spray
Assemble the quilt top
Charm packs are so fun because you get an entire line of fabric for not very much money, and they are pre cut to 5″ square. Lay out your squares 6 across and 6 down. Sew the squares together in rows using 1/4″ seams.
I always label my rows so I don’t get them messed up.Next, press the seams in each row alternately; I always press toward the even number and away from the odd number. Here you can see how the seams are pressed to different sides in each row.
Match up the seams and pin at the intersections. Sew the rows together until you have this:
Usually I appliqué then quilt – but today we are all about fast so we are appliquéing at the very end.
Get out the SpraynBond® Basting Spray for super fast basting of this mini quilt. I sprayed the batting then placed the quilt top on, then flipped it over and did the same thing with the back. No pins in this project!
I quilted in straight lines 1/4 inch away from each seam.
Trace the “Thankful” letters in reverse on the HeatnBond® Lite Adhesive. Iron it to the wrong side of the cream fabric. Cut the letters out and peel off the backing. Iron into place.
You can place the word where ever you like.
After the letters are pressed on, sew around each letter twice. Because we saved this step until the end, we are appliquéing and quilting at the same time! This works because the quilt is a smaller size and more manageable. Finally, add the binding.
I love how it turned out! A perfect little pop of fall color!!
