Feel like celebrating?  Well, you can make a banner for it if you are using some fun DecoFoil™ products from Therm O Web!  It’s Katrina from Paper, Scissors and Glue to share a banner I made for the booth at the Crafts and Hobby Association tradeshow.  And I am just going to tell you upfront this is one long banner!  I didn’t measure it from end to end, but I can tell you each banner piece is approximately 4.5 x 5.25 inches if not a little larger.

Project Instructions:

Heat laminator for at least 20 minutes before using.

Figure out how many banner pieces you need or want to use and then cut them from chipboard.  I used thin chipboard that would run thru my Silhouette Cameo so that I could cut quickly and also cut out the pattern paper to cover them at the right size without trimming.  You could also do this by hand and without a die cutting machine of any type. Adhere pattern paper to chipboard with a Sticky Tape Mini Runner.  I also cut an overlay, but you could skip this step.  I adhered the overlay with the Mini Runner also.

I used my Crocodile to punch holes in each banner piece in the corners.  Start by punching holes in one piece and then use that as your template and guide to punch holes in the other pieces of your banner.  This will create a uniform look and make your banner hang nicely.

Remove liner from a sheet of your Hot Melt Adhesive. Apply the Hot Melt adhesive to a piece of  cardstock, run thru laminator to adhere to cardstock.  Then run your Hot Melt/cardstock piece  thru your die cutting machine for your letters. You could easily trace you letters on this and hand cut them.  Remove the adhesive covering from your letters and place them in the carrier sheet on top of a piece of cardstock.  (This seems to help them to go smoothly thru the laminator).  Place your DecoFoil on top of the letters with the silver (back) side down and the foil color facing you.  Run thru laminator to heat set the foil to the letters.

Adhere letters to banner with Foam Squares.  At this point, string your banner together to get an idea of how you want it to look.  Now it’s time to decorate the ends.  I die cut some feather shapes out and used the NEW DecoFoil Liquid Adhesive Pen! This pen is going to rock your foiling world!  You can add as much or as little of the liquid adhesive that you like and it doesn’t take any time to dry, so you need to work fairly quickly.  I added it to the ends of my feathers and then covered in different colors of DecoFoil.  This gave them a little pop that they needed.

Adhere the feathers to each end piece of your banner, cover with a doily and then add a tassel made out of twine. And now you have a completed banner!  The great thing about banners is that they can be as complicated as you have time to make them or quick and elegant by just adding some DecoFoil!
