Black Cat
by Heather Collins
There is something about Halloween that makes me want to get and do things. Create, craft…even bake. I especially love the old world vintage Halloween items. I love finding antiques to decorate, but sometimes they are just out of hand on the price. I remember loving the old shaker drums that I had as a child and I was luckily enough to find a set online, but they were out of my price range, so I did what any good crafter would do and made my own!
To create this little shaker, I first applied the “Deco Foil Color Harmony Transfer Foil Multi-Pack, Shades of Orange” to the “Deco Foil Toner Card Fronts – Haunted” using a laminator, which gave me a positive. Then I used that negative that was left of the foiled sheet and reheated with the laminator using the plain “Deco Foil Toner Sheets”.
Then I scored the card panels every 1/4″ and then cut them to be 2″x5.5″. Using the “iCraft Easy-Tear Tape, 1/4″x25 yds, I attached them end to end. Then folded the paper back and forth, connecting them all together so that they formed a circle.
Next I colored a vintage black cat image with alcohol makers. I also took 2″x6″ of the foil that wasn’t used on the piece and fringe cut it and glued it on about 1″ down on an orange paper straw. Using a trimmer I took one of the sentiments from the “Deco Foil Toner Card Fronts – Autumn Vibes Sentiments” and created a banner tag to attach to the straw with some black ribbon I had in my stash.
To assemble the pieces I cut two circles out of read glitter that would create a sandwich for my circle foiled scored strip. Then attached one of the foiled positive card panels that I cut into a smaller circle. And lastly I glued the straw into the sandwich.
