Be Wild and Free Mixed Media Dinosaur Wall Hanging

Hello and welcome to National Craft Month! Right now more than ever crafters are enjoying making things and pulling out their craft supplies for some fun projects! Here’s one we think you’ll love from Heather Collins!

I don’t know about you but both my kids love dinosaurs. My youngest loved them so much that did his whole room with a dinosaur theme.

So I hope this might be a perfect project for your little dinosaur lover too.

Mixed Media Dinosaur Wall Hanging Tutorial

To start this project I went to my favorite section of the big box store…the unfinished wood section and picked up a wood-cut dinosaur.

I started by giving it two coats of Brutus Monroe White Gesso and One coat of white acrylic paint.

Then I attached some scrapbook paper that was “Wild Thing” themed from Paperhouse and cut off the extra using an X-Acto knife.

For the back wooden panel, I painted with light brown paint then dry brushed on dark brown acrylic paint.  To finish off I splattered with the dark brown, white, and black paint.  I set both of these pieces to dry.

Next, I foiled several of the Toner sheets from the February toner sheet collection using DecoFoil Transfer Sheets Jade and Lime.  I also used the blank “Deco Foil Toner Sheets and used the leftover foil from the other Transfer Sheets.  I randomly cut triangles out of the transfer sheets.  I also did the same with the Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets in Green Envy.

I attached all of my grass pieces and some artificial leaves I had with the Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Medium.  I repeated this also with the dinosaur.  To finish off the wall hanging I used a pallet knife I used the Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel Grass Green and Sweet Mango.
