Hi! It’s Lisa from Quilty Zest and I’m inviting you to join me for a Facebook Live tonight at 7:30 pm CDT in the Therm O Web Craft Room Facebook Group.

Since it’s back-to-school time, I’ll be sharing how to create a fabric cover for a composition notebook, and I’ll have my 10-year-old, Benji, with me. I just love these composition notebooks, and even though I’m not going back to school (instead, I’ll be enjoying working from a quiet house while my kids are in school!), I decided that I needed a graph paper notebook and a fun cover for it. And don’t forget the Ticonderoga pencils! The black ones are my favorite – the erasers just seem to work better.

Recently, my boys and I experimented with Cyanotype fabric – basically, you leave these specially treated fabric sheets out in the sun with objects on them, and the sun “dyes” them – or really – reacts to the fabric not covered by your objects. You can see two of our sheets below. We had some hits and misses, and Benji and I will be sharing about that in our Live as well.

Here’s a look at the supplies we used to make the notebook cover – fabric, the Cyanotype Pretreated Sheets, and HeatnBond Medium Weight Fusible Interfacing. My notebook cover is based off of this excellent tutorial, but I’ll also share what I did differently, including the special touch on the inside front cover, created with Benji in mind.

Whether you have kids going back to school or not, these notebook covers are a fun treat! You can use your favorite fabric to create a colorful protective cover for a notebook filled with quilt designs, to-do lists, or even a daily journal.

I hope you’ll join me and Benji tonight! Don’t forget to join the Therm O Web Facebook Group prior to our live by clicking here and answering the questions to join!

Hope to see you tonight!

Lisa
