Pencil Pouch

It’s back to school time again. This pencil is a fun little applique project. The pattern can be found here. This body of the bag was cut at 4″ x 11″ to give plenty of room for pencils, pens, and markers. The applique is easily applied with Heat n Bond® Lite. Before top stitching around the appliques the Deco Foil™ is added.

If you haven’t used the Deco Foils™ yet, you should definitely give them a try. They are applied the same way appliques are when using Heat n Bond®. Using the iCraft® Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive, cut the shape of the desired foil piece. For this pouch, it would be the metal on the pencil and the oval. Iron the adhesive directly to the appliqued pencil. Place a sheet of Deco Foil™ on top and iron. Once the foil completely cools, pull the excess foil off. There is a thin piece of mylar protecting the foil, pull that off as well.  As you can see in the photo, the foils can be stitched on top of just like fabric.
