Hi!  It’s Jen from The Smitten Chicken.  Today I am sharing a fun and quick Halloween pillow.

Halloween Pillow

Have you seen the cute Halloween fabric All Hallow’s Eve from Fig Tree?  It was such a big hit, it is getting hard to find!  Rest assured, I just found out Moda is doing a reprint!  Yay!!   I wanted to make something with this cute line.  But I needed it to be fast since sewing is limited with a new baby these days.  So I came up with this quick pillow!  Do you want to sew along?

Here are the supplies you will need:

2 – All Hallow’s Eve Mini Charm packs

10.5″ White square of background fabric

10″ square of black fabric

18.5″ square for pillow back

HeatnBond UltraHold Iron-On Adhesive

Oliso Mini Iron

October Pattern

31 Pattern

Sewing Machine

Sew the Mini Charm squares together as the diagram shows above.  Sew them in vertical lines of 5 charms. And 9 charms in a horizontal row.  Sew the sides on first, then the top and bottom.

Print off the October Pattern and the 31 Pattern.  Trace them onto the paper side of the HeatnBond.  (They are the mirror image, so that your letters will be facing the right direction during application.)  TIP:  Leave about a 1/4″ of HeatnBond around each of the letters.  This will help you to have a clean, crisp edge.  Adhere the HeatnBond with your iron to the WRONG side of the fabric.  Then cut out each of the letters.

TIP:  Press the background square in half both ways like shown in the pic.  This will help you to line up your letters for placement.

When you have your letters where you like them, adhere with a hot iron as per the instructions on the HeatnBond.  Since I used HeatnBond Ultrahold Fusible Adhesive, you do not need to sew it!

Construct the pillow by sewing the back to the front, right sides together.  You can use either an envelope closure or zipper closer.  Either one works!

And you are done!  You could totally have this done before Halloween this year!  Just grab your favorite spooky mini charm packs!

I, of course, had to see how it looks with my antique sewing machine.  I think they are a match made in heaven!

Thanks for following along with me!  If you would like to see more you can visit my blog, Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest!

Chirp Out!
