This week, the Therm O Web team has the great pleasure of joining up with our friends at Art Impressions! I have two fun holiday cards to share with you that I made with the adorable Southwest Christmas stamp set. First up is this petite 3.5″x5″ card featuring a trio of cute cacti.

Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen
Let’s take a closer look.
First, begin by creating a 3.5″x5″ card base that opens to the bottom. Cut two strips of patterned paper to fill the background, along with a thin strip of solid black paper to ground the edge where the two papers meet. Stamp the cacti onto a piece of watercolor paper that has been die cut into a stitched square. Die cut a second larger stitched square from solid black paper. Carefully ink just the word Joy from the sentiment stamp, and add the greeting to the top right corner of the panel.
Color the image as you wish. I used Zig Clean Color markers, and then went over the colors with a wet paintbrush to give a watercolor effect. Add Clear Wink of Stella glitter pen to the bells and bows.
Adhere all the papers in place using Therm O Web’s XL Memory Tape Runner. I added a scalloped border along the left side, punched from watercolor paper to match my image. Cut a small slit in the top fold of the card using a craft knife, and thread with baker’s twine. Adhere the stamped image to the black stitched square, and then adhere the panel to the card base using Therm O Web 3D Adhesive Squares for a bit of dimension.
For a final touch, add sequins using a small dot of Fabric Fuse Liquid Adhesive to hold them in place.
My second card features a fun cowboy scene.

This card features a lot of the same techniques as my first card. The papers are adhered with the XL Memory Tape Runner, and the image is popped up with 3D Adhesive Squares for depth and dimension.
Here’s a closer look at some of the individual pieces.
This time, the image has been stamped onto a stitched circle die cut, and watercolored using the Zig Clean Color markers. And for a bit of fun, I created my own patterned paper by repeatedly stamping the hot pepper image onto the background cardstock.
Once the papers and images were all in place, I wrapped twine around the card base, tying into a simple bow on the left side. Sequins were added using the Fabric Fuse Liquid Adhesive, and the bottom two corners were rounded. And for a final detail, I added Clear Wink of Stella glitter pen to Santa’s bag and vest, and to the bows on the chili peppers.
Enjoy!
