Not So Spooky Pretty Bird Pincushion

We’re keeping off a week of fun!!! Designer Jennifer Jangles is known for her whimsical and colorful patterns and fabrics. We’re the lucky ones as all this week we’re sharing projects made with both of those along with her adorable buttons and beads! Today Designer Audrey Pettit has this No So Spooky Bird pincushion to share!

Just a simple change of fabrics takes it from everyday to a fun Halloween decor!

Not So Spooky Pretty Bird Pincushion by Audrey Pettit

This Pretty Bird Pin Cushion by Jennifer Jangles is so fun and easy to put together, and looks great in any fabric designs you choose. I used Jennifer’s adorable Not So Spooky Halloween fabrics on my birdie to make a sweet year-round pin cushion for my sewing room that also happens to double as an instant Halloween decoration come October. Love that!

Each one of Jennifer’s sewing patterns comes with a full-color instruction booklet containing step-by-step directions that are super easy for even beginner sewers to follow. To begin, gather your sewing materials and give a quick look through the instruction booklet.

Cut out the pattern pieces, and following the directions in the booklet, use the pattern pieces to cut the appropriate number of fabric parts.

Continue to follow assembly and sewing directions, using these extra helpful tips.

Outer Wings: To create simple appliques for the outer wings, fuse Heatn’Bond® iron-on adhesive to felt.

Then cut out the two outer wing pieces as directed.  Add hand or machine decorative stitching to the wing pieces, if desired. Once you have sewn the main wings, peel off the paper liner on the outer wing pieces and iron them onto the main wings before stitching the wings onto the bird body.

Tail: Cut two tail pieces from fabric and one tail piece from ® iron-on fusible fleece.

Trim the fleece tail down, as directed, and iron the fleece onto the back side of one of the fabric tail pieces.

Continue to sew and assemble bird as directed.

Don’t be afraid to add your own decorative touches. I substituted vintage pearl buttons eyes for beads eyes, and added a couple of Jennifer’s clay buttons to each wing. Go with whatever makes you happy, and enjoy!
