Craft up these cute little sailboats for an instant summertime home decor accent or table setting. Or fill the boat up with candy and treats, and you have an festive party favor that’s sure to wow your guests at your next gathering. They will love your creativity, and you will love how easy they are to make. Here’s how.

Start by cutting a thin, long strip of patterned paper. Really doesn’t matter what size, as the process is the same, regardless. The bigger the strip, the bigger the boat. Once you get the hang of it, experiment with different sizes and have fun. For mine, I started with a strip that’s about 10″ x 2.5″.

Adhere the two ends of the strip together using Zips™ ultra-thin adhesive lines.

Lay a plate over one of the open sides of your paper loop, and using a bone folder or scoring tool, score around the plate. For thicker paper, you may need to flip the paper over and score the back side, as well. Once you are done, your paper should look this this:

Working along the score lines, gently press the sides down to the inside, as seen here:

This will create flat corners so that your finished sailboat can stand upright.

Then continue to fold in the paper along the curved score lines.

Adhere the flaps with Zips™ adhesive lines.

Now find something to use as a center mast. Think wooden skewer, coffee stirrer, cardboard, or a straw. I used a stick gathered from my front yard. Whatever you use, adhere it to the inside of your boat with a Zots™ 3D adhesive dot.

Punch small holes in the corner of the boat, and tie string, hemp, or twine from each corner up to the center mast.

Cut a triangle from fabric, or you could use paper, too. Apply Zips™ adhesive line down the center of the triangle. Wrap fabric around the center mast and lightly tack closed with a few decorative stitches.

Add die cut flags to the other side line, adhered with Zots™ dots. Fill boat with kraft paper filler or sweet treats, and enjoy!
