Wild Child Scrapbook Layout

I started this layout with a sheet of Vicki Boutin Foundations paper since it is a thicker cardstock to hold my mixed media. I pulled out some distress inks and oxides by Tim Holtz and blending brushes and just blended on the different colors across the middle of my page.

I then flicked plain water onto it with a round watercolor paintbrush and blotted up the drips with a paper towel to create a marbled effect. Next, I pulled out the Constellation Stencil by the Crafters Workshop, stencil pal, and white Glitter Glitz Gel and applied the gel over my background colors.

I just scooped some out of the gel pot with a smaller spatula straight onto my stencil pal and smoothed it right onto my page over the stencil to create a magical background. It dried relatively quickly, in about 10 minutes. If you fear your stencil moving around while applying the gel, you can tape down the edges using our pink pixie tape or pixie spray.

Next, I wanted to create a clothesline across my page to hold all my elements so I pulled out my dusty Crop-o-dile tool and some eyelets and marked where I wanted my clothesline to be to string bakers twine through it. After setting the eyelets I cut a piece of the twine and taped down the back using some easy tear tape, I just didn’t peel off the backing.

After creating the clothesline I matted my photo with smooth white cardstock and then with one of the patterned pieces of paper from the Echo Park Call of the Wild collection. I began stringing some of the die cuts from the collection through the clothesline and adhered everything to my page using the XL Memory Tape Runner.

I decided I wanted to incorporate some fuzzy flock to my layout and make more cute critters so I pulled out some flock in midnight blue, black and Tuscan gold along with the Camp Happy Bear stamp and die set from PhotoPlay Paper. I stamped the bear onto the black flock transfer sheet using white ink by Close to My Heart. I didn’t need to allow any dry time, it was instantly dry.

I then stamped the moose onto Tuscan gold using black archival ink and cut both my critters using the coordinating die set and my manual die-cutting machine. You could transfer the flock to some of our easy adhesive sheets or foam adhesive but I knew I wanted to pop them up off my page so I attached them to my background with some white foam squares. Aren’t they just adorable?

I added a few more elements from the sticker sheet in the collection across my clothesline and decided to add some ripped strips on the top and bottom from scraps I had leftover from the border around the edge. I always cut the middle out of my background paper if I’m just using it for a border so that I can use that on future layouts and not waste paper! So I ripped some pieces and rolled the edges up and then did some machine stitching across the top and bottom.

Lastly, I pulled out the constellation stencil again and ink blended the white ink onto fuzzy midnight blue flock so I could die cut my title letters with Elle’s Studio dies. I attached my letters using the Ultrabond Liquid Glue Pen and a little tip… Do not squeeze this pen too hard. I may or may not have had to call in my husband to get glue off my ceiling because I could not reach even with a chair.

My advice is to keep a pin or needle handy to unclog the tip as mine often dries at the very tip and I have to poke it to get it flowing again. 10/10 do not recommend squeezing it hard to unclog or you’ll end up with a whoopsie like me! But- I absolutely love this glue and how it dries clear and goes on so smooth so, I will reach for this glue over and over!
