Happy May and soon-to-be summer! This week we are celebrating our going places and that means new homes, new jobs and perhaps even creating a new garden. We’ve got the perfect way to spruce things up with this colorful Pinwheel Play Garden Flag.
Pinwheel Fabric Garden Flag with Liquid Vinyl

- 1 coat – water and stain-resistant
- 2 coats – waterproof and stain-resistant

Grab your scraps and 1/2 – yard of background and backing fabric along with
HeatNBond EZ Print Lite or HeatNBond®Lite fusible web
ThermOWeb Pressing Paper or parchment paper
and your garden can be sporting a colorful flag too!
Start by downloading the free “Pinwheel Play Garden Flag” pattern.
The pattern is “printer-friendly” and saves so much time from tracing when you use HeatNBond EZ Print Lite sheets.
Basic flag instructions are easy…
Cut 2 – 14 1/2″ x 27 1/2″ pieces for the flag front and back.
Print the pattern pages out on HeatNBond EZ Print Lite or trace on HeatNBond®Lite fusible web. Rough cut pattern pieces from fusible sheets and fuse to reverse side of your fabrics, following manufacturer’s directions.
When cool cut out all appliques and layout on your background fabric. All the information you need is included in the free pattern. Arrange and stitch your appliques to the background fabric, using your favorite method.
Assemble the front and back and you’re ready to protect your flag from the elements with HeatNBond Liquid Vinyl. It paints on easily with a foam brush or my favorite 2″ fine bristle paintbrush that cleans up easily with just water.
Once dry, cover with Pressing Paper or parchment paper and press according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Your flag is now ready to hang in your garden. I have designed my flags, using the “Gray Bunny Garden Flag Stand”. It’s a nice tall 51” x 15” wide stand you can find on Amazon HERE for under $20.
It makes a great wall hanging or table topper too!
