Hello there! It’s Andrea with you sharing a sparkly card inspired by my teamie and friend Ellen Haxelmans. It’s remake week here at Therm O Web. What is that you ask?
It’s where we look to our fellow designers for inspiration for our projects to share with you. And there’s endless inspiration around here. Be sure to join us all week as we share ideas inspired by one another and we remake them with our own spin!
I have long been a fan of Ellen’s work: Her use of color and her coloring are always gorgeous and inspiring! As you can see, I stayed pretty close to Ellen’s design (see above), simply giving it a summery twist.
Summer Fun Card
That adorable corgi is from Newton’s Nook Designs’ Corgi Beach set. I colored him with Copics and cut him out with the coordinating dies. To create the little background for him, I blended two pieces of Bristol paper with distress oxides: one with Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean, and the other with Salvaged Patina and Pine Needles. I added splatters of water and white paint for interest. Once the pieces were dry, I die-cut the sky with NND’s Fancy Edges Tag Dies and the wave with NND’s Sea Borders Dies, as well as the tag dies. I adhered the wave to the tag with the Ultra Bond Adhesive Pen.
Adding Glitz Glitter Gel to an Inky Background
For that gorgeous, shimmery background, I first blended a panel of Bristol paper with Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides. I flicked water over the panel and blotted it with a paper towel. After placing NND’s Tropical Fish Stencil over the panel, I spread a layer of Gold Glitz Glitter Gel. I love that sparkle and texture!
Once the gel was dry, I trimmed it down and adhered it to a white, die-cut panel with Terrific Tape. With the same adhesive, I attached it to a cardstock mat and then to a white card. I added strips of white foam tape to the tag, tucked a piece of cheesecloth behind it, and affixed it to the card with the Ultra Bond Adhesive Pen.
I adhered die-cut and stamped sentiments with the Ultra Bond Adhesive Pen and attached the corgi with foam squares. To finish the card, I tied some ribbon and string to the tag and affixed clear gems with the Ultra Bond Adhesive Pen.
