HoHoHo!!! I know that it is only August, but I like starting Christmas decorations while it isn’t so crazy with all of the holiday shuffle. This way I don’t feel rushed and I can enjoy not only the process of creating but the process of selecting just the right materials and then enjoying the final result. I will create the whole holiday season around a color theme. This allows me not to go too overboard and when I scrapbook everything it all can be color coordinated. Which means less stress for me. One of the pieces I like to start with is something to decorate my front door.
HoHoHo Holiday Ornament Decor
Gesso
To start this project I coated a large wooden ornament with a coat of Brutus Monroe White Gesso. I made sure to get both sides of my wood piece since someone will be able to see them both.
I sprayed Pixie Spray on my stencil and let dry for about a minute and a half.
Next, on one side of the wooden piece, I placed my stencil, and with a spatula, I spread Brutus Monroe Media Paste and let dry. After this was completely dry I painted both sides of the wooden ornament with some Red Acrylic Paint, twice. When this was completely dry on the side that didn’t have anything on it, I laid the stencil down and with a spatula, I spread Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel in Red Velvet and let dry.
To finish this project I took a die-cut of gold paper ribbon, a Santa Claus tag, and a metal “Merry Christmas” tag and attached them all with 3D Zots Adhesive Dots. Lastly, I attached some golden ribbon to the backside also. This project though pretty simple does take some patience due to all the coats of products having to dry before going to the next step.
