Merry and Bright Retro Christmas Kitchen Towels
Merry Christmas from Amanda of Jedi Craft Girl! I love creating seasonal kitchen towels! It’s one of the few ways to incorporate fabric into the kitchen. My kitchen has a fun retro/vintage feel and so these towels are perfect! You can totally change the fabrics to suit your decor.
I often give kitchen towels as gifts – I can never have too many so I figure my friends might feel the same 🙂
Merry and Bright Retro Christmas Kitchen Towels Supplies:
Cotton kitchen towels – purchased from your favorite home store
5 1/2″ x 22″ strip of fabric – fat quarters totally work
small piece of fabric for letters
HeatnBond Lite Fusible Adhesive

Merry and Bright Retro Christmas Kitchen Towel Instructions:
Begin by cutting the fabric into 5 1/2″ x 22″ rectangles.
Press the long edges under about 1/4″.
Print out the pattern pieces and trace them onto the HeatnBond Lite – or print them directly onto HeatnBond EZ print sheets.
Heat set the letters on the wrong side of the letter fabric. Let cool.
Cut out letters following the pattern line. Peel off the backing paper.
Position the letters on the right side of the fabric strip. To help with getting it centered, fold the rectangle in half and make a crease. Use a ruler to make sure the letters are centered.
Heat set in place.
Machine stitch around each letter in red thread two times.
Spray the backs of the fabric with SpraynBond so it doesn’t move when you place it on the towel. To get the fabric centered on the towel, fold the towel in half and make a crease. Line up both center creases.
You will have about 1-2 inches hanging off each edge depending on the width of your towel. Trim it down to 1″ hanging off the edge. Fold under 1/4″ and then fold under and tuck around the back side of the towel. Pin in place.
Using matching thread, sew 1/8″ along the edge of the fabric, all the way around. Give it a good pressing and you are done!
I hope you make some for your kitchen….
