Hola amigos! Feliz Cinco de Mayo! It’s Juliana from 17turtles and I’m here today to share a fun card I created to celebrate Cinco de Mayo using Therm O Web adhesives and the new Gina K Designs Premium Cardstock and Wafer-Thin Dies.
Here are some fun facts about Cinco de Mayo:
It is the date observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. In Mexico, they mostly celebrate the battle though military parades. However, here in the United States, it has become associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture. This date is sometimes mistaken to be Mexico’s Independence Day which is actually celebrated on September 16.

Cinco de Mayo Card Instructions:
To create this card, begin by using the Gina K Designs Nested Oval Dies to die cut an oval from a piece of Gina K Designs Premium White Cardstock and then die cut the coordinating larger oval from Gina K Designs Turquoise Sea Cardstock (which is part of the Gina K Designs Premium Cardstock Island Dream pack ). Adhere these layers together using Therm O Web Memory Tape Runner XL.
Next, stamp your images onto Gina K Designs Premium White Cardstock and color it with Prismacolor Colored Pencils or your favorite coloring medium. Die cut the images. Cut a piece of twine to hang the piñata from and adhere it to the back of the pinata die cut using Therm O Web 3D Foam Squares. These will also add some dimension to the piñata image. Wrap the remaining twine over the top of the die cut ovals and secure in place using Therm O Web iCraft Easy Tear Tape. Use iCraft Mixed Media Liquid Adhesive to glue down the small die cut candy pieces. Adhere this piece to the center of your card front using Therm O Web Memory Tape Runner XL.
For the final step, die cut the banner and add your sentiment. I hand lettered the “Feliz Cinco de Mayo” to fit the theme using a black pen. Adhere the banner using 3D Foam Squares.
There you have it! A fun Cinco de Mayo card to help celebrate this festive day! I don’t know about you, but I’ll be celebrating with some taco’s later today!
