Valentine’s Day is all about the gift of love, but sometimes we want to give something more than a hug and a kiss. Making a fabric Valentine envelope and filling it with chocolate and other goodies is a quick and fun way to show your love. Plus, it is so easy! Adding a Deco Foil™ flower and tag gives it a little sparkle, too.

Sewing instructions for Fabric Envelope:
All seams are sewn at 1/4” wide unless otherwise noted.

Step 1: Make the Valentine fabric envelope using fabric and Heat n Bond® Fleece Fusible High Loft.

Iron Heat n Bond Fleece Fusible High Loft to wrong side of one 12½” x 12½” fabric square. Heat iron to a medium setting and use steam. Place the rough side of interfacing onto the wrong side of the fabric. Cover with a pressing cloth and press for 10-15 seconds. Repeat until entire surface is bonded.

With right sides together, sew around edges of 12½” x 12½” fabric squares leaving a 3” opening on one side. Clip corners. Turn right sides out. Press.

Deco Foil Valentine 3

Fold three corners to the center. Press.

Deco Foil Valentine 4

Blind stitch edges to hold in place.

Deco Foil Valentine 5

Step 2: Make the flower using 5½” x 12” fabric strip, iCraft® Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive, and iCraft® Deco Foil™ Sheets.

Place one sheet of iCraft® Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive, rough side down, on the wrong side of 5½” x 12” fabric strip. Place between parchment paper and run through laminator.

Deco Foil Valentine 7

Trace 2½” circles on fabric side using a washable marker or pencil. Cut out fabric/Deco Foil™ circles. Cut 2½” circles in half.

Deco Foil Valentine 8

Baste along the flat edges to connect them. Pull thread to gather. Connect gathered circles with a small stitch to create flower petal circle.

Deco Foil Valentine 9

Use Therm O Web Fabric Fuse Liquid Adhesive to attach flower to fabric envelope. Glue or sew a button to center of flower to cover raw edges, being careful not to catch inside fabric of envelope.

Deco Foil Valentine 9b

Step 3: Make the fabric heart stamp using iCraft® Mixed Media Sheets, Heavy Weight, iCraft® Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive, and iCraft® Deco Foil™ Sheets.

Pink the edges of the 2½” x 3” iCraft® Mixed Media Sheets, Heavy Weight rectangle. Cut out or die punch a heart from iCraft® Deco Foil™ Hot Melt Adhesive. Place a slightly larger piece of Deco Foil, color side up, over the adhesive side of heart. Iron or run through laminator. Let cool. Center heart, color side up, on 2” x 2 ½” Hot Melt Adhesive and lay a different color of Deco Foil over the heart and adhesive. Run through laminator. Allow to cool completely before removing foil.

Deco Foil Valentine 11

Attach foiled heart to stamp to fabric envelope with pin or adhesive.

Deco Foil Valentine 10

Fill the fabric envelop with candy, hearts, love notes, or other gifts. Share the love!
