It’s Summertime… which around here means flip flop time. Though we like to wear flip flops year-round, if we can get away with it. If you like flip flops as much as we do, you’ll love making these adorable flip flop earrings. They take less than 30 minutes to make and it is easy to whip up a whole bunch!

Simple Flip Flop Earrings

Grab your favorite fabric scraps, and let’s get started, shall we?

You’ll need:
Fabric Scraps
Coordinating Embroidery Floss or Perle Cotton
Coordinating Thread
Needle
Thermoweb Heatnbond® Fusible Interfacing – Craft Extra Firm
Thermoweb Spraynbond® Fusible Spray
Thermoweb Pressing Paper
Earring Hooks
Water Soluble Marking Pen
Scissors

Start by cutting a 3″x5″  piece of Craft Extra Firm HeatnBond® interfacing, and fusing it to the back of your fabric. Use your water soluble marking pen to draw a flip-flop shape.

Cut out your flip flops. Put aside the extra fabric with interfacing to use in a few steps.cut out mini flip flops

Thread your needle with the embroidery floss. Stitch a single stitch to make the straps for the flip flops. Trim the floss on each side of the stitch to about 1″.

Spray the back of the fabric and interfacing you put aside a few steps ago with SpraynBond® fusible adhesive spray.

Tuck the ends of the straps under, and place the flip flop tops onto the sprayed interfacing. Put the entire piece between two layers of pressing paper, and iron together.

Use your fingers to gently fluff up the straps, and carefully cut around the flip flops, making sure to keep the straps intact.

Grab your needle, thread, and earring wires.

Place the earring wire on the back of a flip flop, and stitch in place.

Lift the earring wire to pull it into position.

Repeat for your second earring, and your flip flop earrings are complete!
