Hi! It’s Amanda from Jedi Craft Girl! There are only 2 weeks left until Halloween – that means only 2 weeks left to sew spooky Halloween projects made of black & orange with owls, cats, candy corn, spiders, and witches.
The time passes too quickly. That’s why this pillow is super easy to sew – it takes about 30 minutes! Let’s get started!
Supplies:
1/3 yard Blend Spooktacular fabric
1/2 yard grey dot for back and strip
2.5″ candy corn fabric
9″ cream fabric
5″ orange fabric
18″ pillow form
Zipper
Cut the fabric as follows:
Orange 5″ x 19″
Candy Corn 2.5″ x 19″
Cream 9″ x 19″
Grey dot 4″ x 19″
Grey Dot 19″ x 19″ for the back of the pillow
I love this entire line of Spooktacular fabrics from Blend. These Spooky Potion bottles are large and none of them touch each other so they are perfect to cut out and appliqué.
Turn the fabric over to the back:
Take the HeatnBond® Lite and draw a rough outline of the bottle, cut generously around it, and iron to bottle you want to appliqué. Peel off the backing and press the bottles to the cream fabric. Sew around each bottle 3-4 times with black thread.
Here you can see how the black thread outlines the bottles and makes them stand out:
After you have appliquéd the bottles, sew the strips together in the order pictured. Use 1/4″ seams and press to one direction.
The finished piece should measure 19″ square. Now you can finish the pillow. I was all for super quick and put an invisible zipper in the bottom. (Tutorial HERE)
How many more projects can I squeeze into these next 2 weeks!
I have noticed other tutorials on the internet using the Spooktacular fabric line:
