Hello and welcome!

It’s Julia from Inflorescence Designs! I’m so joyful you are visiting today. This week is all about the colors of fall.

3D Fabric Acorn Home Decor Stuffies with HeatnBond

Beginner sewing pattern!

Supplies:

These little acorns are great SCRAP BUSTERS and it’s impossible to make just one.  They are that easy and quick!

Here’s a video tutorial to watch and below you’ll find the step-out photo instructions as well!

3D Fabric Acorn Instructions:

Begin by printing and cutting out the pattern pieces.  Next, fuse Thermoweb’s Medium Weight Fusible Interfacing to the acorn bottom fabric.

Continue by…

Trace the bottom acorn stencil 3 times OR use SpraynBond Pattern & Stencil Spray Adhesive and cut out 3 acorn bottoms.  Next, cut out the top of the acorn using the larger circle pattern piece as well as the smaller circle pattern piece from the interfacing.

Next…

Take 2 acorn bottom pieces and place them right sides together.  Begin sewing starting at the wider top and all the way to the bottom.  Use a 1/4″ seam allowance.  Sew all three acorn bottoms together to create the bottom of the acorn.  Snip the curves, turn the right side out, and stuff with fiber fill.

Next…

To construct the acorn top, hand sew a running stitch around the acorn top.  Use the interfacing as a guide.  The stitches should be right next to the interfacing.

Finally…

Pull the running stitches together.  Push the acorn bottom open side against the acorn top.  Pull tightly and secure the top of the acorn to the bottom section.  You can gently arrange the gathered acorn top to your liking.  Next, insert your needle and pull through to the opposite side of where you secured the top to the bottom.  Secure again and trim excess thread.

Finished!

Thank you for visiting today!  Come back soon to see what else will be starting to bloom with Inflorescence Designs!
